Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
I'm from Southeastern Alaska, which for those who haven't been there is a temperate rainforest. Meaning cold and rainy (seriously 17 or 18 sunny days this summer) and I haven't had a rain coat I could stand to wear since I was in elementry school. I've only used it as a wind breaker/outer layer so far but it has been really comfortable so far. The material seems sturdy but is still light, I stuffed it in my pack hiking a few weekends ago and it didn't take up much room or add much weight. I wasn't crazy about how high the collar goes up at first when I didn't need the hood it seemed uncomfortable but if you leave it a little unzipped or just don't look at your feet too much it's fine and I'm sure it will come in handy when the rains comming at me sideways. (I'm in montana right now so it hasn't rained enough for me to really test this jacket out in the rain.)

Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
This is one sweet jacket. It works great for everything that I need it to. The only bad thing about it is that it doesn't keep you too insanely warm, but I just throw on a sweatshirt underneath. This thing is hardcore waterproof though. Its just a great jacket.

This jacket is light, durable and easy to pack. You can even put a fleece underneath to make it though those chilly rainy days!

Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
This is a great jacket, very lightweight and breathable. I did not realize when ordering, however, that there is not means of storing the hood. I like to wear a large hat instead of the hood when there is only a fine mist (better venting), so the hood hangs out behind the head and fills with water. Then if you need the hood later, the water runs down the back of the neck. For that reason alone I would caution people about this jacket, but it is still a high quality product. Oh, plus it is also noisy...with every body movement it sounds like someone crumbling newspaper. I keep hoping that will go away as it gets broken in.

Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
Bought this jacket to wear for camping and hiking trips. I just came back from a hike in misty/light rain conditions, and it works well. If it rained any harder or longer though, I would've wished for a jacket that had Gore-tex.
This isn't a jacket that'll keep you warm, you might want to wear thermals or fleece under.

Took this hiking and traveling for a variety of climate changes. Very easy to layer insulating tops underneath; vents well in warmer wet weather.

Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
The jacket runs a size larger. It gets the job done as far as keeping you dry, but if you try to use the hood AND turn your head; that's not going to happen very well. It's pretty stiff and noisy so definitely not something you'll want to throw on if you want to be extremely comfortable. I used it for a big rainy hike and was disappointed that the hood is pretty uncomfortable to use. Other than that, the jacket itself keeps you dry, just make sure to go a size smaller than you normally wear. I picked it up on sale, but I think I would have been disappointed if I paid full-price for it.

Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
I bought a brown one about a year ago and find that I'm wearing it all the time. Sometimes with just a t-shirt or tank underneath in nicer weather, or in cooler/wetter weather, I layer with a light fleece. Either way, it's very convenient, lightweight and comfortable. So I bought a second one in black!

Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
This jacket is very nice except for the trim/contrast color around the zipper and hood -- it's dark brown. I got the Daffodil color jacket which is a beautiful soft yellow and the dark brown contrast is ugly. I called REI and they said the other jacket colors also had the brown trim/contrast color. This is not a super high-tech jacket -- it's more of a casual adventure/school/street-wear jacket so the color matters more to me than if I were looking for a high-performance jacket. It would also be nice if the hood either zipped off or folded into the collar. If you don't care about the colors or the hood -- this is a great jacket!
