I have used the light a few times now for trail running in deep woods at night. It is plenty bright on the two highest settings. The rig is very lightweight and is barely noticeable after a few minutes. It isn't as bright as the higher end Princeton lights, and it isn't regulated but the battery life is very good and I have no complaints at the price.

Great light, except for one thing. There's a small plastic latch for the battery cover. Sure the LED's are bright (any headlamp with a few LED's will be bright) and the batteries last darn near forever, but have this headlamp long enough to need to change the batteries a few times and that thin plastic strip on the battery latch will bust--leaving you high and dry.
I've used Princeton Tech headlamps for nearly a decade, and had been happy, but after this one I've switched to Black Diamond brand and have been much happier.

I haven't used a head lamp in years and I just bought this one last weekend. I must have tried 10 on in the store and this one looked best for brightness, quality and price. I got home and flipped off the lights and wow! It works great. I had to change the headlight on my car the next night and I think I got my money's worth out of it for that use alone. Great lamp!

So far this product has been great! It's highest setting is very bright and lights up a great distance. It is easy to use, comfortable and stays tightly around your head as you move around. I use this most often for night riding and it works great! The strobe feature works well to alert others of your presence. Great price, great product! You can't go wrong...REI does it again.

Everyone needs a headlamp. This is way brighter than anything else near its price range, and the battery life is great. It is a really well engineered headlamp. The switch is easy, the lamp doesn't spill the batteries if you drop it, the batteries last forever, it has a high range of angles to point the light, the adjustable light intensity suits all needs, and best of all my girlfriend is quite jealous since hers cost a bit more and is nowhere near this quality.

So I bought this and it truly serves its' purpose. The price tag caught my eye, but the performance made me a believer! The different settings are also useful, but it's maximum brightness really is bright!
My only gripe with this headlamp is that it can be a bit tough to adjust the angle at which the beam illuminates. As with all headlamps, you have to tilt or turn the actual lamp that's fixed to a type of swivel to adjust the height of the beam, this one is particularly difficult and requires two hands. It's not to say that you need to have the hands of a surgeon to do so, but it's enough to make me wish it was a bit easier.
For everything else, its functionality and price just can't be beat!!! It works great on the trail whether you're night hiking to get to that next campsite (we started our ascent to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro at 11:30 at night), or using it to find your way to and from the privy, or simply using it to play cards in your tent. I do sincerely recommend this to anyone and everyone who is looking for a good headlamp at a decent price.

Great headlamp for the price! Wow I have many headlamps that are almost twice the price of this one and when I go out for a nighttime hike now they get left behind. Also it is really easy to change the batteries which make it great for night climbing because you don't need any other tools but the compartment never accidentally pops open either.

I purchased 2 of these. One for my son and of course one for me. Used it a couple of times camping and loved the compactness and overall operation of the light. I decided to take it to work to see if it met the standards of an aircraft mechanic. Well, I'm definately more impressed than before. I use it everyday for hours at a time and it performs great.Some of my fellow mechanics call it the stadium light. Battery life is excellent and changing the AAA bateries couldn't be easier. The price makes it a no brainer.
