The good: These bags really work. They do a great job of keeping out even really strong smells. This keeps smells from being picked up by my other gear which is great. Last thing is to have hung up my food away from my site only to have animals casing around my tent because the smell of the food is on my pack or sleeping gear.The bad: I've used for a season and found that they only last 2 to 3 times before the seem rips easily. They really need to make them more durable. If you are OK with spending [$] (3 bags) for a total of 6 reliable uses, then it is worth it (it is to me). I would rather, however, that loksak put a little more into the durability of the top portion of the bag around the zip. Each time it has ripped just below the zip making it useless at that point.

It's a pain to seal, especially after a month or or more of usel! A simple Glad/Ziplock/etc. style closing slide would be a tremendous bonus.

I thought these were a smart item to have on trips. As it turns out the bags are on par with the general glad ziplocs. Although, they use a tougher plastic. The actual seams that connects the zip features fails easily. If an accidental tug on a seam occurs the entire unit fails.

Over priced for something a double baggy would work fine.

After reading previous reviews for this product, we were a bit leery about this product. However there is no other product on the market that professes to do what these bags can do.

My husband and I used these bags and the larger bags with an Ursack, instead of a BFRC, on a portion of the John Muir Trail. They held up fantastically and provided much peace of mind.

Most notably were some pungent peanuts in our Gorp mix and the Opsack contained the smell completely.

We used a large bag for the food that went in the Ursack. The three smaller ones were used as containers for our toiletries and trash. In our trash mix were containers of tuna... no smell whatsoever.

Additionally, we had NO problems with sealing, opening, resealing the bags day after day of our 96 mile backpacking trek.

Put your food in these and it disappears from smell – great inside a bear canister or Ursack to add a layer of stealth. In a high-Sierra camp a mouse sat grooming on one with cookies and trail-mix in it and didn’t investigate. I take one 10x9 for three + days of food, another for garbage, and small ones for personal items with fragrance and my first-aid kit. I’ve even carried used toilet paper in one and my pack never knew. Half-filled with snow or spring water they make a decent, non-leaking cold pack.
