Comments about REI Muir Woods Fleece Jacket - Men's:
A great product at a great cost. With three kids buying the "trendy" outdoor wear is unreasonable and selfish. I shop web closeouts and local sales constantly looking for "good deals" on outdoor clothing and gear. This jacket has all the same features the high priced competitors have without the big ticket label.

Good Fleece, soft, warm, seems pretty sturdy, good pockets, just be sure to order 1 size up form your usual, both myself and my friend had this problem (XL and Small had to become XXL and Med)

Comments about REI Muir Woods Fleece Jacket - Men's:
I must admit, I really love this jacket. I use it both by itself and under the REI Swtichback, and it is just great. I like the fit: snug but not tight, although I can imagine there are those who prefer something with a little more room in it. It is quite warm, although you need a shell if the wind is blowing. The pockets are a little bit too high for my taste, it's just slightly awkward to put your hands in them for warmth. Not too bad though. All in all, a great warm jacket for spring/fall.

Worked well as midlayer in the Arctic Circle. Jacket at the beach and packed for night on top of Mt.Whitney

Bought for a Alaskan cruise in late Sept. Worked great under my rain gear. When worn alone as a jacket, it tended to allow some cold through under windy conditions. Worked very well when layered. Great for cool Friday night football games and sitting around the campfire.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Fleece Jacket - Men's:
great for those early morning chills when you are still in your camp clothes backpacking... but better still for the true cold as a midlayer and fits under shells comfortably. the only downfall for me personally was the sleeve fit which bunched alittle at elbows and in length overall.
otherwise a good true fleece that helps us Leave No Trace as we gear up for the woods or the park alike.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Fleece Jacket - Men's:
I just used this fleece in mid 30s and 40 degree weather and it kept me plenty warm. A little cool when the wind kicks up, but a windproof shell is an easy and lightweight fix. Overall, I am very pleased with this jacket.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Fleece Jacket - Men's:
This REI Muir Woods fleece is very comfortable & warm in cool weather. The fit is great. My arms are on the shorter side, however, and if you have longer limbs you might feel the sleeves are a bit too short.
I have used this jacket mostly in cool weather - between ~55 down to ~30 degrees F - and been very happy with it. I'm fairly "warm-blooded", so a person who tends to be colder might use it comfortably in a higher temperature range. It is not enough warmth, however, in below freezing weather, especially with a strong wind. Although it can easily handle a very light sprinkle, it would not be enough water protection in a decent rain. In these cases you'd need an outer shell for additional warmth & rain protection.
The best thing about this jacket for me is that it can be zipped into the REI Switchback Parka. In addition to being zipped in, it also attaches by a loop in each sleeve and one in the back near the neck. Since it can be zipped in, the two jackets really behave like one single jacket. Many jackets being made nowadays seem to NOT have the inner warmth layer able to zip in, and when putting them on you have to zip up each one separately. To me that's just a silly inconvenience that I didn't want to have. The ability to zip this jacket into an outer shell was a feature that really sold me on this jacket as well as the Switchback Parka. I purchased them together at the end of winter season sale for a great discount (less than $200 for the pair). The only negative here is that the loops on the inside of the sleeves that are used to secure it to the Switchback can sometimes be annoying to the wrist.
The jacket has two exterior pockets that are a nice size, and both zip up. I do wish it had an interior pocket for a phone/ipod.
The only other negative thing I can say about this jacket is the collar doesn't keep a nice "collar-shape" when not zipped up.
Overall this is a terrific jacket for it's purpose and I'm very happy with it.

This is a great jacket. However, if you are a tall guy (6'1" or taller) I would suggest getting the tall size.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Fleece Jacket - Men's:
I got this jacket because I thought it would be a good no-frills jacket. It is warm, but definitely not wind resistant. Mine wore out very quickly. Within six months of buying it one of the drawstrings broke and a hole developed in the seam of the sleave.
