Comments about Petzl Zipka Plus LED Headlamp:
I love the design of this headlamp with the retractable wire. And it's bright and simple. Unfortunately I've had two of these crack along the seams where the two halves meet to close around the battery. It's as if the plastic is too thin and two tight and when you keep it in your pocket or put the normal pressure of having it packed it cracks.
The first I took back to REI, who were great and quickly replaced it. The second I didn't bother and tried some glue. If it was just one, I'd chalk it up to me, though I'm not rough on equipment. It's possible they've changed the plastic or the design slightly to avoid this, but if not, consider these "delicate."

Comments about Petzl Zipka Plus LED Headlamp:
I got this one by accident. I meant to get the 4 LEDs with the headstrap, but chose too quick without paying attention. Regardless, it was a good mistake.
I like hiking at night and, while this lamp doesn't cast very far, it cast a bright wide beam that will light up the path. Good ambient lighting, people say it's like following a portable sun.
The only con I can see is if you're a girl or have long hair. The strap tends to get caught in long hair. No problem for me, I shave my head. My girlfriend and another friend have had this problem. That and you can't adjust the angle of the beam as you can with other petzl models. Small price to pay if you ask me.

Comments about Petzl Zipka Plus LED Headlamp:
All LED headlamps (okay, most) are great. This one doesn't have the bells and whistles of some but it's retractable cord makes it one of the best. Without the headstrap this thing easily fits in your pocket or pack. Maybe not quite as stable or comfortable as others for long-term wearing. If you have a beanie on, though, it's perfect.

Comments about Petzl Zipka Plus LED Headlamp:
I use this headlamp (along with my new Petzel Tikka XP, which is much brighter and adjustable, but bulkier) almost everywhere: camping, hiking, hunting, reading in bed, in my carry-on, hotels, power outages, car work, etc. The size is the biggest bonus, and the retractable headband (I have short hair, if you have long hair it may get sucked into the mechanism so be careful). The brightness doesn't compare to the Tikka XP, but it's bright enough to see in the tent, or path to the bush, or whatever your use.

Comments about Petzl Zipka Plus LED Headlamp:
I've owned several of these over the last four and a half years. If my dogs would quit eating them, I wouldn't have to continue buying them.
This is the only light I take backpacking. It's lightweight. The batteries last so long that I don't bother carrying extras. And I can just hang it on my wrist at night and almost forget it's there.
I use it as a backup caving light. It's not bright enough to use as a primary light source in a cave. But in case of emergency, it would definitely guide me back to the surface.
And I always keep one in my car and/or purse for power outages and any other light-requiring emergencies. Until one of my dog eats it. Then I have to buy another one.

Comments about Petzl Zipka Plus LED Headlamp:
I forced my poor daughter to buy this for herself. I contended that we already had plenty of headlamps. However, now I am secretly envious of her headlamp, but am too embarrassed to admit it. It is the perfect backpacking lamp i.e., small, lightweight and ideal for reading in the tent during those early winter nights. Highly recommended.

Comments about Petzl Zipka Plus LED Headlamp:
Love this product--it's size, strength and versatility. You can wear it on your arm when biking which is nice. The major drawback is that you MUST put it on and take it off with two hands or it will catch in long hair.

Comments about Petzl Zipka Plus LED Headlamp:
This headlamp was by far the handiest piece of gear I have ever had. It is very compact, and can be packed anywhere throughout the day. I would recommend this headlamp to anyone. The retractable cord is ideal for headlamps. It never needs adjustment and when you are done with it the cord goes right back into the storage area and you're set. It can also be used on your wrist to see trails or bears. Overall a great piece of gear. It lasted for 5 years until I lost it in some shrubbery.

Comments about Petzl Zipka Plus LED Headlamp:
Initially, I thought the string headpiece would be uncomforable. However, I find it more comfortable than the typical elastic straps found on most headlamps. I've used this headlamp hiking, camping, and Mt. Biking at dusk. It is very bright, which is great when walking around, but for reading in a tent, I find it a bit bright so I use a different headlamp.
