Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
The Petzl Elios helmet has saved my brainpan twice. Once I pulled off a VERY sharp piece of rock -- right onto the top of my head. The impact cracked the plastic shell on the helmet, but the point of the fragment never made it through the foam to my head. Helmet #2 saved me when I foolishly got the rope behind my leg and took a 20 ft. inverted whipper into the side of a buttress. I whacked the back of my head against the rock, but the helmet took the blow and left my head with nary a bruise (although my back was a different story).
Most likely neither of these incidents were "lifesaver" events, but the helmet certainly saved me a fair amount of misery, and potentially a hospital visit. Helmet #3 comes along whenever I climb. It can get a little hot in the summer, but no more so than a hat would.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
Great, lightweight helmet for us folks with small or narrow heads. I suffered for several years with the Ecrin Roc, which gave me headaches and slipped around at all the wrong times. No more with this one! It is also narrower and allows better visibility along the periphery. Con: with the molded foam, I feel impacts much more acutely than with a suspension-system helmet.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
I really like this helmet, I was climbing in Vantage where it was really hot above the 80s and this helmet still was very breathable and i felt like i had adequate protection.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
Fits well (especially for smaller heads) and is unobtrusive. Easy to adjust when you're wearing it.
I had a lead fall, flipped upside down and clocked the back of me head against the rock. The helmet cracked, but I walked away with no head injury - a precautionary checkup at the hospital confirmed no concussion or other injury.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
I liked the fit of this helmet, and it is easily adjustable, for winter gear (helmet liner, hat) or summer. In fact, I barely noticed it was on most of the time. I was glad that I had it when I decked, free-falling about 8 feet, landing head first on some boulders. The MRI and Cat scans showed a fractured vertebra, but no skull/brain damage. In short, this helmet saved my life.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
I was on the fence about this helmet, but figured since it got a lot of reviews I would get one. I got the larger size to make sure it would go over any head covering I was wearing.
In a test run at home I was very disappointed. To start, there is so much foam inside that the helmet sat way up off of my head. So much so, that I would only feel protected from something falling straight down on top. If a rock or ice chunk hit the wall and bounced toward a side or back, there is little there to slow it down.
That was minor compared to the lack of comfort. Ina five minute test run at home my head actually started to hurt from the hard foam digging in. With it loosely placed and the strap undone it felt like a very cheap bike helmet.
My head is a bit larger, but not huge, so I do not know if that play into it.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
My hat size is 7 1/4 so I bought the size 2 Elios. I'm able to fit a fleece beanie under my helmet so I look a full foot taller, so I have that going for me. Nice and light, easily adjustable, and very comfortable. The only downside I found is that this helmet has less ventilation than others out there.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
Great helmet to have. It won't break your wallet and serves a good purpose for a regular climber. I'd suggest a lighter one for long trips where it's weight could hinder after time. Holds headlamps nicely too!

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
I got this helmet for lead climbing trips, and it is great! Light weight, comfortable, and gives one an extra sense of security. The clips for a headlamp are great for dark climbs as well. Only downside is that it is a one hit helmet, meaning that after one impact, it should be replaced. But since this is a procautionary device, I find this acceptable

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
I wore this Helmet all through Mystic Valley and Key Hole in Zion and it rocked my socks in the August heat. Did just fine and I didn't have any problems with feeling too hot amid the 100 degree weather. The climbs it did well on as well although I didn't need it as much as I did when I was cayoneering. Crazy easy to fit and I wore a bandanna under it and it all worked out really well. Now I wear it when I am setting up Top Ropes in Seneca and other less known places.
