Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 SL Pack - Women's:
Used this pack for a 7 week trip to Europe.
After that period of intensive use as luggage, the only damage is some tiny fray holes in the top flap.
Worked as Carry-on luggage (British Airways, Air Italia). Also survived being checked.
Easily held about a week's worth of clothing, 2 prs of shoes, toiletries, souvenirs, sleepsack, towel, etc.
Okay water repellent fabric. My stuff only got wet when I was out in hard rain for over 30 min. (A pack cover may be a good additional purchase)
The water bottle pockets aren't that secure despite the adjustable straps (I had problems with losing bottles getting my bag on and off luggage racks)

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 SL Pack - Women's:
Every pack I've ever had left my back sore and bruised. I bought this pack, and I can't believe how comfortable it is. The design is fantastic. I used it on a 42-mile backpacking trip and felt so good at the end of the 42 miles that I felt as if I could walk another 42 miles easily. I am 5'5" and 105 lbs. and this pack fits great.

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 SL Pack - Women's:
I'm 5'2" with slightly uneven hips/shoulders. This is the first pack I've had that is comfortable to wear (and even after a 5 hour hike, it's still just as comfortable)! All the weight is transferred to my hips, the hip-belt works wonderfully, and since there's no weight on my shoulders it doesn't matter if they're not even.
The mesh aircomfort suspension system makes this pack so comfortable... in a warm weather hike, being able to feel a breeze on my back while I still have my pack on is wonderful! The straps fit really well, they don't rub or pinch anywhere.
The hydration sleeve works well, my 3L platypus fits perfectly (though when completely filled up, it takes up a fair bit of volume inside the pack). The compression straps mean I can have a small load, but it still won't shift around.
I got caught in a brief (but intense) rain/hail storm without a rain cover, and the fabric on the pack held up nicely! It's not waterproof, but it didn't get immediately soaked either.
My only complaint would be that the hip-belt pocket is really small. It holds a tube of chapstick, but not much else. It would be nice if it was large enough to hold a snack, or maybe a small camera.
The size of the pack is great for a long day-hike, and I think if you're really good at doing the ultra-light thing, might work for a short overnight or weekend backpacking trip.

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 SL Pack - Women's:
The size of this pack is just perfect. Hiking on my own for 3 days, everything fit and I couldn't bring all the stuff I don't need, which I am sometimes compelled to do when I have the space. I have gotten everything I really need in this bag, never gone over 30 lbs, and it feels like nothing on my back. It has a great shape, great balance, and it's durable.

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 SL Pack - Women's:
This super-light backpack is ideal for trekking and cross-country adventures. Contents stay relatively dry even in the wet, west cascades. I've squeezed under madrone and manzanita and the pack hasn't ripped. Many adjustable straps allow custom fitting for any body type. Probably its best feature is the cool, mesh back. Mesh frame along the spine is independent of the pack itself, allowing for air to move between me and my stuff. This helps keep the contents from getting wet with condensation and helps keep my back cool. My coworker even bought one and it saved her back.

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 SL Pack - Women's:
I bought this pack because I decided to start hiking mountains in the winter as well as the summer. I need to be able to pack quite a few more nessesities such as more clothing for the cold, often wet Juneau weather. I found that the capacity of this pack is perfect for long day hikes (six to seven hours before daylight runs out) and a fairly comfortable overnight. The pack has great loops for tying things down. I also was pleasently surprised when I discovered that two straps that go from the top, center of the pack out to the sides are perfect for buckling in a pair of snowshoes.
I am 5'6'' and this pack seems to distribute it's weight right onto my hips the moment I put it on, even before I buckle the hip straps. The padding is perfect in the lower back and the air mesh back is also wonderful, even when hiking in cold climates because I work hard going up.
The only part I don't like so much is that you cant' stuff the outer top lid pocket because it will push out into the back of your head while it's on your back. I have to only put a couple small things in that pocket and push them to the front. I am a teenager, so I am not used to wearing things on my belly button, so, I don't really like how this pack rides up there while I'm going up steep slopes. But, it still distributes its weight well, so I deal with it.

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 SL Pack - Women's:
This pack is very comfortable and feels wonderful when filled and balanced properly. The adjustable strap system allows for fitting to a smaller frame, and the mesh back is amazing for ventilation. The removable hydration pack is great for quick access to water without stopping to unload or fidgeting with suspended water bottles. Although it is slightly smaller than a standard pack, this one is perfect for anyone who has a shorter stature or a narrower build.

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 SL Pack - Women's:
I have a lower back injury - this was the first large capacity daypack I have found since then that doesn't leave me in pain after a couple miles in my lumbar region. It also is so comfy in the hips. It has just enough padding without going overboard. The back does a good job of stopping 'sweat back' as well.
I use the pack for dayhikes, snowshoeing (it can haul 30" snowshoes on the back) and for backpacking trips. Even at 24 lbs or so it is comfortable.
I also like that I can fit quart water bottles in the side pockets. Only downside is if you do that, you will need a partner to hand you your bottle to drink.
If you are shorter and have had ill fitting packs take a try.

Comments about Deuter Futura Zero 40 SL Pack - Women's:
This pack felt great from the moment I tried it on. It is easy to adjust, fits more gear than I expected, and would work as well for an overnight trip as it does for day hikes. My only caution is to get an insulated hydration reservoir if you are hiking in extreme cold. The mesh air flow area keeps the pack cooler and your water may freeze.
