Comments about REI Cargo Weekender Bag:
I used to use either a backpack (way too small) or a duffel bag (way too large) for weekend trips. This one is perfect size with plenty of convenient pockets for tablet, exercise shoes, maps, etc. Inside there's ample room for sweaters, trousers, even a laptop.
Bag looks great and build quality seem to be high level. It looks it will last many years. Since I joined REI, I am finding that their brands are quite innovative and amazingly functional!

Comments about REI Cargo Weekender Bag:
This is one of the best-designed products I've ever purchased.
For example, the floating liner for the laundry pocket is genius. As you generate laundry on a trip, you need more and more space for that and less and less for clean clothes. The other pockets are well-placed and well-sized as well. And what other reviews said is true - you can fit more in here than you think!
On top of that, the bag is attractive and the unique color makes it easy to spot on a baggage carousel.
This bag would work well for trips lasting up to a week, I'd say. You won't be disappointed.

Comments about REI Cargo Weekender Bag:
It is a beautiful bag, but I have no idea why it's called a "weekend" bag. I could put my entire closet in it. And, once the bag was full it was too heavy to carry and very uncomfortable. I'm about 5'5 and even when I shortened the strap the whole way it banged against my knee it was so long, making it even harder to carry. I had to take this back.

Comments about REI Cargo Weekender Bag:
Perhaps the most important thing about purchasing this bag was the incredible service Linda C provided when I called with questions. She went the extra mile and beyond to get information for me and suggested bags for comparison. We agreed this bag would be the best option for me, and we were right.
I used it as a carry-on, and even on a very crowded flight no one with the airlines looked twice. I used the backpack straps and the shoulder straps and both are great.
Like another reviewer, I overloaded the bag (but came home with Christmas gifts) but I was still very very happy with it.
There are lots of get storage pockets, which let me stash walking shoes and "used" exercise clothes from my other things when I came home.
This bag is great for a 3-4 day trip or winter weekend trips when you need to pack bulkier clothing.
I can't say enough good things about this bag or the great service (again) from REI. This bag deserves five stars and a high five!

Comments about REI Cargo Weekender Bag:
I am super happy with this bag. It's a well thought out duffle but it's also got backpack straps if you want to carry it that way. I checked it on a plane and it made it just fine. It has tons of space and a good assortment of compartments. I live in a small apartment so the fact that it squishes down and hardly takes up any room in my closet is also a big plus.

Comments about REI Cargo Weekender Bag:
This bag is pretty nifty. I took a shot in the dark because there's only one picture on it (I'm uploading a few to help out other people), but the reviews seemed enough to venture a buy. Pretty glad I did.
I can fit at least six pairs of shirts, undershirts, socks and underwear, and three jeans easily in the main compartment. The right side pocket can expand to stow away dirty laundry, the left side pocket is meant for the shoes (though I probably won't ever dirty it up with shoes). There is a small front pocket for slim things.
The top is quite nifty, the right pocket opens into the interior of the bag, sectioned off by mesh, whereas the right side is just a pocket to hold keys, writing utensils and paper.
I don't care for the backpack straps, but I could see how this might come in handy for short distances.
There isn't much structure to the bag until you start packing it up, which is fine because it lessens the bulk when trying to store it somewhere.
Overall, this is a sweet bag. Exactly what I was looking for.

Comments about REI Cargo Weekender Bag:
I bought this bag when I first started learning to pack light. I discovered it's actually quite a bit larger than it looks- I overpacked my first few trips and found it too heavy!
I mostly use it now for gear heavy trips like bike races- I can fit my street clothes and shoes, bike gear and helmet, and more. Because it's a duffel, it is squishy so usually is allowed on the plane. I love the key fob in the top- it's the perfect place to stash keys.
The one thing that would make this bag perfect would be internal tie down straps. When I pick it up backback styles, things shift about and flop in the bag. As it is, this isn't the bag I take on international trips where I'll be hosteling or staying with friends in tight spaces.

Comments about REI Cargo Weekender Bag:
So far I have only used this for a weekend trip. I am looking forward to using it on a 5 to 10 day trip.
The Weekender is very well constructed; as an example, the zippers glide easily and the stiching appears to be sturdy. It is evident that planning went into the design of the carrying handles, shoulder strap, end grabs and backpack straps. Furthermore, the end pockets are very practical as are the two pockets on the top flap.
The volume/capacity of the Weekender must be witnessed to be believed. After I purchased it, I wanted to see what it could hold: two pairs of shoes, two pairs slacks, 4 sets underwear and socks, 2 shirts, laundry bag, denim jacket, minor medical supplies, toiletries, a 2" X 11" X 4" radio, a 3" X 7" tube for carrying other items and swimming trunks. As a bonus I was able to keep a 81/2" X 14" legal pad in the bottom compartment that conceals the backpack straps. I still had a bit of space left.
I wish that the outside pocket toward the top was larger.
The Weekender is practical, well-made and has fantastic capacity. It is easy to organize and to retrieve items from. I look forward to using it for many years and believe it is a great travelling aide.

Comments about REI Cargo Weekender Bag:
One of the best travel products I've ever had. Well built. Packs easily. Carrys well. I would like to see this bag made into one that is 3" shorter, keeping the height, depth, and the number of compartments the same.
