The lacing system on these shoes is poor. It was tough for me to get a good snug fit. Even when tightened very tightly, they would loosen up after a while. Also, they get VERY hot! I have returned my salomons.

Coming from the northwest, I run about 30 miles a week mostly in the rain and about half the time on trails. On trails that are relatively flat these shoes are great, however on hills going either way the traction leaves a lot to be desired, especially when running on wet leaves or hard packed dirt. I will stress that I am very disappointed with the traction, and these shoes are not built to be road racers, however on light trail runs they are the best shoes I have ever worn. Durable, comfortable and stable. Get what you pay for.

The best shoes for summer time. I took these to Japan in the middle of summer where it's hot and humid. Kept my feet relatively cool, but most of all, odorless! That never happens with shoes in that country and I've been there many times. I walked about 12 miles a day and they were so comfortable, my hamstrings gave out before my feet. I even took these up Mt. Fuji and they performed like champs. Comfortable, great traction...and did I mention keeps your sweaty dawgs refreshed? Not for rain, though, as the mesh-like material soaks up water. I've found my shoes for hot, humid countries. These lightweight runners will pay you back in spades.

I have hiked an extended weekend on the Ozark trail in Missouri in these. They handled a 25 lb pack without any problems. These shoes have a good balance between breathable and non breathable materials, making them adequately cool but still rugged enough and protective enough to handle the trail. My feet have never been more dry. Quite possibly my favorite trail shoes yet. Haven't had any issues after about 3 months with the lacing system as other reviewers have listed.

I bought these shoes last week for trail running and tried them out on the treadmill for a few miles. Everything felt good so I wore them for the Sunmart 50K at Huntsville, TX this weekend. I had a spare pair of shoes available in case these gave me problems but I did not need to use the spares. These Salomons worked perfectly on dry, dusty trails. The sole is sturdy enough to protect against rocks and roots and gripped well. The mesh uppers gave me dirty socks but great ventilation. The lacing system was quick and secure. Combined with Smartwool socks, these shoes gave me a smooth ride with no blisters. Highly recommended!

I bought my pair 3 years ago and I wear them multiple times a week. Other than the tread being worn down, not a single stitch or glued seam showed signs of wear until this past week. I have taken these shoes through some fairly rough stuff. This is the first pair of shoes I have owned that lasted longer than a year.
They are comfortable, easy and fast to put on. They breath almost too well. After hiking on the dry dusty trails around Austin, my socks match the color of the trail.
The only reason I am looking at replacing them is due to the worn down tread.

These shoes are the best trail runners I've ever had or tried. I haven't owned many pairs but I am very happy with these. I played ultimate frisbee in them for most of the summer and they cling to grass pretty well for a running shoe. Yes, water comes right in but paired up with a good thin pair of wool socks, I have nothing to complain about. Just got back from a weekend of backpacking in the rain and these shoes outperformed my friends' montrails, leather boots, and merrells with traction and comfort. The thing that really disappoints me is that the laces already wore through on one foot and I've had them for less than 2 months. I've only worn through the laces on another shoe one other time and that was after hiking and running in those for 3 years! maybe it's the ultimate. I haven't noticed any other wear and tear over these 2 months.

I wear this shoe on weekends and for working out.
The drawstring design offers even cinching and a various degrees of tightness. Toe box is roomy when fully tightened on narrow feet.
Heel tread feels springy and loose on the edges. Inordinant risk of ankle roll on hard cuts and uneven surfaces.
Comfortable, though, and worth the money.

This is the most comfortable running shoe I've put on my feet. I have purchased this model twice now. Besides the comfort, the best feature is this shoe's breathability (in relation to how rugged it is). No Gore-Tex here, so they breath very well, but with breathability, you usually loose on a shoe's ruggedness. However, Salomon has done a reasonably good job of balancing these two qualities. "Tough-Spots" appear in most high-impact areas. Also, the lacing system is really great, it never slips, has a nice tuck-away flap and it is FAST. 5 Stars.
