Comments about REI Mojave Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
Iraq is hot and these are the trousers for me! Two years here in heat, and these are my favorite. Most people do not realize the loose fit is to force air in and out of the trousers as you work thus cooling your legs. When you stand, the cut makes the fabric drape away from your legs and thus you do not heat your skin. Yes, these pants are loose-and other great features-knife pocket, hair tie pocket, double knees to protect you when you need to hit the deck and crawl. Two pair lasted about a year under tough conditions. The troops are starting to finally leave so maybe I can see how they work on the Pacific Crest Trail in 2012!

Comments about REI Mojave Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
I don't understand all these "baggy" and "poor quality" reviews. My husband bought two pairs back in 2007 and wears them constantly. A thin man (5'7", 150 lbs.), he has trouble finding pants that AREN'T too baggy and these look better on him than any pants he has tried. He has worn them hiking, backpacking, camping, sailing, fishing, boating and hunting as well as casual wear wherever we go. These pants have outlasted all his others and they still look great and wear like iron. His pants rarely last a year - he is very hard on his clothes, but these are still going strong. Highly recommended.

Comments about REI Mojave Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
I bought two pairs of these trousers about two months ago for an overseas assignment. What a dissapointment. The material has pilled up in spots after only a few washings, the button holes frey, and one has developed a loose weave hole in the fabric. They look like they are two years old not two months old.

Comments about REI Mojave Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
I am 6'2" and weight 230. Not thin just a big guy. I wear these on weekends and couldn't be happier. Lots of pockets and the pants seem to wear well. I'm not sliding down rocks on my backside or crawling on my hands and knees through the forest or caves. I can't comment on if the pants would hold up to such treatment but for me they are fine.

Comments about REI Mojave Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
I don't understand why the current trend in convertible pants is to make them SO BAGGY as to lead one to think he's in the 'hood. I thoroughly detest the amount of space available in these pants and wish the zip off were 2 inches higher up. The shorts get down to my knees. A waste of fabric, in my opinion.

Comments about REI Mojave Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
Great features, terrific looks, nice colors. You put them on and they are soooo comfortable. Of course they are comfortable, you can tailor another pant, same size, from the excess cloth! Let me explain. It is a great pant, but it is so wide at the legs! Think M. C. Hammer going camping.... I bought two pairs, I travel and go out hiking almost twice a month, and I love how they feel and how they perform.... and I hate how I look on them. Now, I am thick legged, imagine a skinny guy.... I would recomend them, but the fit, oh man, the fit.....
Comments about REI Mojave Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
aaargh, what is up with those button holes! They have all frayed beyond help and are now all useless. Every single pocket button hole is frayed. I also bought a pair of Sahara convertable and the zippers failed after a month.
Come on REI, what happened to your quality control?
I also had to spend $ hemming these pants as they are too long :( I so want to like these pants...

I find these excellent for travel, because they provide a nice option when you're backpacking because you don't have to take a separate pair of pants and shorts.

Comments about REI Mojave Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
This product was definitely comfortable with a pretty good fit. Great freedom of movement and easy care instructions. However, the quality can be improved. The buttons due tend to come off pretty easily and the button holes tend to get frayed. The buttons can easily be fixed by adding an extra stitching or use a different type of thread. I ended up using the filling from gutted paracord/550 cord while out in the middle of nowhere. The button holes can be fixed by using a lighter to burn the frayed ends; but, this is only a short term fix. These are just some ways to fix the problems with this product while out camping, hiking or whatever. But, the manufacture can always improve the quality in this product.

Comments about REI Mojave Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
Great pants, we're at 200 miles of hiking together and still going strong, albeit with some pilling in the crotch. My only minor grievance is that this style is cut long and wide in the legs so that they look a little like clown pants if you're relatively short like me.
