Comments about REI Switchback UL Jacket - Men's:
I bought this for a trip to Britain because it folds into a small light package, after using it in the rain I discovered it worked as well as my heavier Gortex shell. Next backpacking trip this is the shell I am taking. Lots of nice features make this a very functional adaptable shell.

Comments about REI Switchback UL Jacket - Men's:
I bought this jacket as my first UL shell and wanted it as versatile as I could get it to be used for backpacking, bicycle commuting, and day hiking at the very least. The longer tail on this jacket covers better than some other ultra light jackets and keeps my rear dry while biking as long as I dont have to hide anything under it. (also great if you need to keep the material down under a waistbelt or harness)
Backpaking the white mountains for a week it gets wet, but this jacket stood its ground. The only thing I would change is the cuffs which are hook and loop closures (as are a good many other jackets) which can be a bother to rehook each time you wear it. the busy factor comes from that observation and the other cinches which may need to be adjusted depending on layers, or activity... I got this great UL when it was full price, and it was a great value... enjoy your new jacket!

Comments about REI Switchback UL Jacket - Men's:
I bought this jacket as my heavier option for hiking. I liked the features like the ipod pocket and it was good at keeping you dry. The first time i used it was in the Olympic mountians and it worked great. But the jacket ended up being a little to baggy for me. The real problem came the second time i used it while touring around Seward AK. The jacket riped three times while walking around town. I could expect this to happen to a single layer pull over jacket but not a 2.5 layer jacket that weighs over 13oz. It's a good jacket if you are carefull and dont rip it.
