    Comments about Joby Gorillapod:

I bought this product to make time lapse videos of my bike rides in the the city but as soon as I went over a pothole the base of the pod snapped and my camera smashed, you may want the SLR version if you want to use it on a bike.

        Comments about Joby Gorillapod:

This is definately the coolest little tripod. Holds tight and makes for nice clear pics. Works best if you set the timer on your camera. There is a little wiggle if you try to push the shutter button by hand.

        Comments about Joby Gorillapod:

That picture of the gorillapod pretty much says it all. It can attach to virtually anything. Railings, trees, fences, chairs, ski poles - it's versatility is great. It is a tripod so it can stand on its own, but height wise it's probably about 6" tall max. Incredibly handy for getting yourself into photos - just set the timer and run. Also great for nighttime/low light shots where you need to keep the camera steady. Small enough to go anywhere you need to and should attach to any camera (fits my Canon Powershot SD550 securely). While traveling, I kept the camera constantly attached to the tripod (legs straight out) as it acts as a nice handle. The only downside is that it does suffer from wear and tear, especially the last joint before the camera attachment. If worn down or cracked just a tiny bit, the camera and attach point will then snap on and off (probably not a designed feature) and that pivot joint will be loose. [...] Aside from that, it's a great product, fun to use, and does what it's supposed to.

        Comments about Joby Gorillapod:

I bought this to use with my Canon SD1100 - a very small and light point and shoot. I've used it to mount my camera to the dashboard grab-bar in my car and as a tabletop tripod for stills and videos. It works well, with a few caveats:

-some of the joints are stiffer than the others, and the joints on the head of mine are *very* stiff. This makes fine camera adjustment difficult. Not a problem if you're clamping the camera to a rail to get a group shot, but it could be an issue for macro photography.
-certain things seem to be hard for it to get a grip on. Small square posts can be problematic (but not impossible, it's just a little more prone to sliding down)

I'd certainly recommend this for any small point and shoot - it's a good tripod. If you need something a little smaller and lighter, with better fine adjustment, the Ultrapod would be a better choice. Also, this model is *not* suitable for SLR or video cameras (even the small flash-based cameras might be a bit too much for it). If your camera is much larger than a pocket-size point & shoot you'll need the SLR version!

          Comments about Joby Gorillapod:

I use it mostly when hiking. It easily fits in my pant pocket or tucked away in my daypack. I've wrapped it around the top of a Corona bottle to get a shot and I've set up my trekking poles in an upside-down V and wrapped the gorilla pod on top to take group shots. It wraps around tree limbs and stays put on uneven surfaces. My Canon Powershot fits on it perfectly! LOVE IT!!!

This thing is great! My husband and I use it all the time so that we can both be in the picture. We used it to take our annual Christmas card photo. We've hooked it on fence posts, tree limbs, car mirrors, etc. and it works excellent with our compact digital camera. This size is definitely for smaller cameras, so get the bigger one if you have a large/heavy camera.

This is a great product and is a must if you are travelling by yourself and want to get those great shots and not ask people, or if you're a couple who want to get to those romantic spots and capture the moment.

My wife and I took this pod with us to Hawaii, Florida and a few other places. It's ability to secure the camera on to virtually anything was terrific. It also allowed us a stable platform to take some night shots as well.

The camera I used was a Sony T10/T30. Smaller point and shoot. The pod was plenty stable enough.

              Comments about Joby Gorillapod:

I used the gorillapod on a 2 week hiking trip in the White Mountains. It fit neatly into my pants pocket and really improved my photos.

However, the clamp mechanism to remove it from the camera was frequently difficult, requiring me to wiggle it around to remove it. On the last day of the trip, the top link between the legs and the clamp piece broke. Now it's useless.

It's inexpensive, so I would recommend it anyway, but it's not as rugged as I would have expected.

I got this tool as a gift. I never thought I would use it much. I brought it with me on a few outdoor excursions and found myself loving it. Putting it upside down on tree branches or stabilizing the camera on a rock, it was as though we could capture group pictures without leaving someone out. Of course, you have to know how to use your camera's timer function. =)
I love this thing and will be buying some as gifts for friends.
