Comments about Yakima King Joe 2 Bike Carrier:
After reading a bunch of reviews, I was nervous that this rack would fall off my car, especially because the first time I used it was on a 6 hour trip to OBX. However, this rack worked like a charm. It mounted very securely to my 2008 Civic Si. The straps did not lose any tension throughout the entire trip, and I was pleased to see no damage to my paint.

Comments about Yakima King Joe 2 Bike Carrier:
The carrier is priced right for the category, but overpriced for the performance. It dropped my bike. Yakima claims I must have misused it, better yet they claim I stated I misused it. They added lie to insult to injury. All nonsense, this thing is just a poor design. The rubber straps do not perform.I used it on a bike with rear shock along top bar, and most of the weight is in the rear of the bike. These might be factors that exposed the flaw, but Yakima makes no warning this could be the case. These are facts they do not even know, they never took the time to ask. They just offered to replace the rack if I ship it back to them. Now I am [...] looking for bikes to replace the one I trusted to Yakima - *** Stay Away From Yakima***

Comments about Yakima King Joe 2 Bike Carrier:
I like it, it's very sturdy but it's a hassle to constantly take it off the car, don't want anyone to steal it. It's a little more pricey but if I had to do it all over again I would go with one that has a lock to it.

Comments about Yakima King Joe 2 Bike Carrier:
I have an XTerra and the installation was easy, the fit was stable. The hard part was fitting a women's and men's mountain bikes on the rack. We ended up putting the bikes the on the rack the opposite way the directions called for because it was the only way they would fit. I'd research other options before buying a yakima again.

Comments about Yakima King Joe 2 Bike Carrier:
Our King Joe 2 bike rack mounts to our Mazda Tribute quickly and easily with 6 points of attachment and 4 bearing points when including the rubber rest pads. We transport two 26" mountain bikes that have substantial frames.
When properly installed, this rack was found to be very firmly secured to the vehicle with no evidence of lateral or vertical movement, sliding, or shifting as a result of the adjustable buckles, padded hooks, straps, and rubber rest pads, all used to anchor and hold the rack in place.
In particular, Yakima's use of heavy rubber strapping and adjustable frame saddles appeared to be of superior design and material, resulting in firmly supporting and positioning our bikes onto the support arms of the carrier. Although all bike rack straps should be re-tightened during a road trip with the load removed from the rack, we found that the King Joe rack required little or no further adjustment to take up any slack.
Although my wife's bike has the typical angled frame, the Yakima rack's adjustable saddles easily and safely supported the bike frame and held it horizontally. For me, this was the major selling point in selecting the Yakima brand, in addition to the solid rubber rest pads and the life-time warranty.

Comments about Yakima King Joe 2 Bike Carrier:
Considering the price, it's really not bad. It fits my Chrysler Sebring just fine and it's actually much more stable than I'd expected - if you pull the straps tight, they stay very well. I've put two mountain bikes on it and driven 3.5 hours with them on it without feeling like they were going to fall off. And I can open and close my trunk without having to re-adjust the straps. The hooks on the straps scratch my car a little, but it's not very noticeable.

Comments about Yakima King Joe 2 Bike Carrier:
Works well at a reasonable price. We've used it moving cross country and while it's not as stable as a top-mount rack, we've had no problems. We use a U-lock to lock the bikes to the rack, and feel okay running errands with them on the car like this.

Comments about Yakima King Joe 2 Bike Carrier:
I bought this to use on my car (VW GTI) and my fiance's car (Mercury Sable). It worked perfectly on the VW, but didn't seem very stable at all on the Mercury. I felt as though I had to stop every half hour and double check it, and found that it had become loose every time. On the VW however, it seemed rock solid all the time.

Comments about Yakima King Joe 2 Bike Carrier:
Product assembles easily and is easy to mount on my car. The problem is with the rubber straps used to hold the bike on the rack. They don't work well and after a few miles you'll find they do get loose and need re-adjusting. I lost a perfectly good mountain bike when the straps came loose while driving down Hwy 101 south of San Jose. Had I gone much further, I'd have lost both bikes. I should have used a bike lock with the rack! I would not recommend this rack to anyone.

I used this product for Lexus 330. It fitted well but these rubbers strap could not take weight of bike. My bike fell down. Luckily no car was behind me. Buy it at your own risk
