Comments about Ortlieb Bike Shopper:
Almost perfect pannier for commuting and shopping. The rack mounting hardware is the easiest to use of any of four brands I've tried. Easy installation, secure in travel, and instant removal.
It is waterproof and convenient to use, the wallet/key pocket makes it much easier to deal with.
The only disadvantage I've found it is that it's not quite big enough to hold a 17" widescreen laptop. It's just not quite deep enough. It will hold a 15" laptop in a sleeve.

I'm very happy with this bag. I use it for commuting to work. it can fit the contents of my "purse" (wallet, phone, keys, tissue pack, etc) plus a change of clothing, including shoes, as well as holding my rolled up rain jacket and rain pants in case of bad weather. and a spare inner tube. all that stuffed in there, and there is still a little room for more.
Perfect for a commute. Probably not enough room for touring.
It is durable and stylish as well.

Comments about Ortlieb Bike Shopper:
I used this bag daily for a year. I carried my laptop in it. It has a lot of room and is completely waterproof. Its shoulder straps are great for running errands. Like all of the other ortlieb products, it is very secure on the bike rack. My only complaint is that after a year of use, the zipper began to tear apart from itself.
If you are comparing it to the ortlieb classic rear panniers, they have more room, but they are less convenient to carry around when not on your bike.

Comments about Ortlieb Bike Shopper:
This bag mounts and dismounts easily, it has large volume and is lightweight. I generally carry dry clothing and food back and forth to work on my touring bike in this bag. It carries large loads of groceries and is stable. I like closing and opening it with one zipper. People comment on how cool it is when they see me put it on or take it of my rack so easily...

Comments about Ortlieb Bike Shopper:
I searched for a fully waterproof (*not* water resistant) pannier, and this Ortlieb model fit the bill. I can carry everything I need to work (books, papers and more), knowing that they won't get wet. The waterproof zipper, while a little stiff, does the job. The lubricant that came with it is supposed to make the zipper slide more easily, but I haven't tried it. All of the instructions for the zipper are in German, and there were some clips that came with the lubricant, along with a diagram that made it look like there should be a handle on the zipper which might make it easier to use. The in-store explanation I got was just as confusing, so I put that on the backburner. The straps are a little short for placing over the shoulder, like a messenger bag, but if they were longer then they would probably hang down too far when the bag is on a bike. Small complaints, really. I'm very happy with the bag and will probably buy another for longer trips.

I bought this bag because I didn't feel like dropping even more money on a set of panniers that I wasn't sure I'd use over the long term. I fit my daily requirements for commuting into the bag but it is tight. I also use one of the packing systems meant for luggage to make it more friendly for carrying my work clothing. I would have liked to have seen more explanation with the instructions which were all pictures. Overall I am very satisfied with how easy it was to set up and use.

This is my third shopping-pannier-townie type bag, and by FAR the best. It fits well on the rear rack and is relatively adjustable--make sure you have the right size shims for the size of your rack tube! (REI kindly helped me fix mine when i got it). It has a convenient shoulder strap, and holds quite a lot of groceries without a)losing its shape, b) falling off c)banging my heel as I pedal (all problems on previous shoppers i've had). There are only two problems I've had with this: the part that attches to the side of the rack (to the side of the wheel) was somewhat fidly to adjust and made it hard to attach to my rack, and it eventually broke off. Luckily the top attachments are so secure that this has made no difference, and it's still quite stable and secure enough to not be an issue. Also the zipper is quite difficult to zip up, so I usually leave it open. So it's not an issue for me, but i imagine if you were using it a lot, and in the rain, this would be a pain.

Comments about Ortlieb Bike Shopper:
Bought this bag more than two years ago and have used it three to four days per week commuting and on longer road rides and it's held up very well. Love the attachment system that has worked flawlessly and is very simple to attach/detach from my bike. Also dig how adaptable it is to different bikes: mountain, road and recumbent mid-racer. Only thing I'd change about it is the closure: wish it was a flap with straps and buckles so it could fit over larger loads. The "ziploc" type closure has a tendency to pull open when I stuff it full.
