Comments about Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian Serrated Locking Knife - Black:
This is a great overall knife that I've used on camping trips as well as around the home. The high quality 154CM steel contributes heavily to the blade remaining sharp for a long time.
On my camping trips, this knife has done everything from cutting rope to cutting dinner, and it performs well even when it gets dirty.
The Mini-Griptilian size is especially nice for everyday carry, and it makes opening packages a breeze. The best feature of this knife, however, has to be the patented Axis-lock that Benchmade has. The mechanism is extremely smooth and ensures a solid lock, while also making it very easy to open and close with one hand. If you give it a hard enough flick of the wrist, it will open without you using the thumb stud. Very handy when you have short thumbs like mine. While you can do this with almost every folding knife out there, the Axis-lock gives me the confidence that the knife will not open on its own - it remains solidly open or solidly closed.
Unfortunately I lost my Mini-Griptilian while on a trip to Taiwan, so I recommend using the lanyard hole. I plan to replace mine very soon, and for the price this is a great value from Benchmade.

Comments about Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian Serrated Locking Knife - Black:
The Mini-Griptilian is the perfect all-around knife. It keeps a very sharp blade, has a smooth and secure locking mechanism, and just feels good in your hand.
The only thing it doesn't have is a way to lock the blade in the closed position, but it doesn't come open accidentally, it is just nice to have that feature.
I carry this knife wherever I go: home, out to eat, to the crag. I don't think I'll buy another knife that isn't a Benchmade.

Comments about Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian Serrated Locking Knife - Black:
Everyone should own a Benchmade knife to experience one of the finest quality pieces of cutlery on the market. Quick & positive ambidextrous thumb stud opening. Spring operated Axis side lock keeps blade locked until released. The size & weight are great for backpacking. One of the lightest, full feature knives available due to the "state of the art" materials Benchmade uses. Great handle feel & extremely sharp. The serrated section cuts through rope & webbing with ease. If you're going outdoors, you need a good knife. Spend the extra money and treat yourself to a Mini-Griptilian. It's as good as it gets. Made in the USA!

Comments about Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian Serrated Locking Knife - Black:
Among fine knives, this is a standout in both function and value. For those who don't get the price, it is because the blade is truly a premium steel and will hold an edge much longer than common, less-expensive knives. Plus the lockup and action are impeccable. Small enough to easily carry, but big enough for hard cutting. Fits the hand well. I am never without it.

I have been carrying my Benchmade for 5 years now, and I have yet to have any trouble with it. I keep it in my pocket and use it just about every day. I highly recommend this knife, or any other Benchmade to anyone who is willing to spend a little extra to get the best.

Comments about Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian Serrated Locking Knife - Black:
Bought from Bass Pro Shop as a replacement for my SOG Flash II, that dulled easily and had some give in its locking mechanism. The mini-griptilian is the best knife I've ever used. Super easy to sharpen (used the spyderco tri-sharpener) and it holds its edge pretty well. Small and promotes easy knife handling in smaller hands but more than efficient to take on any task (except maybe cleaning your game in the woods). Since I bought this, I don't think I'll ever buy a knife that is not a Benchmade. :0)
Overall, completely satisfied.

Comments about Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian Serrated Locking Knife - Black:
This has become my favorite go to knife. I've used it for all types of outdoor camping chores. It has even been used to process wild game into camp chow. I carry it most everyday and even to the office. I feel it would cut seat belts easily in an emergency and I would not hesitate to use it to break a window if necessary. I've abused the blade somewhat on purpose just to see how strong it is. I'm thinking of buying another one - maybe the larger one.

Comments about Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian Serrated Locking Knife - Black:
This has been my everyday knife for about a year now. I couldn't be happier. The edge has held up very well. Easily the best thing about this knife is the opening and closing action. Opening is super easy, and locks well. Because the hinge is so well machined, you can actually flip the knife closed once you pull the lock-release down. This easy one-handed closure makes the knife really easy to use in tight spots with your hands full.
My only minor complaint is that the clip is a bit awkward. I've sometimes found the knife pulled out of my pocket, say on the upholstery of a couch, or the cables running across the top tube of my bike. Other than that, this knife is about perfect!
