The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Topeak Compact Handlebar Bag:
This bag is perfect for the essentials (cell phone, camera, wallet, snacks). It comes off easily and converts to a fanny pack. Those quick trips into the store or longer sight-seeing excursions are easy; just pop it off, make it a fanny pack, and your off with your hands free. I bought this because my older handle bar bag was too big for my dropped handled bike. They even have a little bar that you can install a computer on. Nice item, very reasonable price.

Comments about Topeak Compact Handlebar Bag:
This is a small bag, it will hold wallet, keys and (since I have a permit) a small handgun. It is very convenient to access the interior and has held up well over the last year. I especially like the extra bar for holding a light (since I do end up commuting before sunrise). No sagging issues, even with the extra weight.

Comments about Topeak Compact Handlebar Bag:
I was looking for something to take on a multiday trip where I had other storage behind me on the bike. I also needed something that didn't require attachment to the fork down by the wheel (struts). This filled the bill but way too much space was taken up by the padding and the fanny pack parts that it didnt hold much more than a few energy bars and my very small camera. I'd say the main candidate to get good utility from this either has a very expensive SLR camera or has a desperate need for a fanny pack and thus a need for people to make fun of them.

Comments about Topeak Compact Handlebar Bag:
This bag is exactly what I've been searching for! On a recent ride I packed my camera, cell phone, wallet, pepper spray and more in the bag. My handlebars are also extra thick (31.8 mm) so most handlebar bags, baskets, etc. don't fit.
I like that it opens to the rear, has a rain cover in case you get caught in a shower and have your camera on board and the "fanny pack" strap makes it decent to carry off the bike, even if you don't want to wear it fanny pack style.
The Topeak fixer 8 bracket is perfect for my bike. I can't wait for the new Topeak baskets to become available as they also use the fixer 8 attachement system.
Very, very happy!

Comments about Topeak Compact Handlebar Bag:
I think the previous reviewer should have returned their pack to Topeak. It must have been a lemon, as the one thing my pack does not do is sag, and that is after many miles of riding. I chose this bag to replace one that not only sagged, but tended to swing from side to side. This one does neither. It is very sturdy, and the convenience of the quick release mount is great when stopping for a sightseeing or errand break. I believe Topeak is a reliable company, and I would hope they would replace a non-performing product.

Comments about Topeak Compact Handlebar Bag:
A bit pricey for it's small capacity, but we love ours nonetheless. It's a very clever design with lots of extra touches. We use ours for touring trips on the bike, then I convert mine to fannypack for walking in town, while my wife converts hers to a purse. Holds small items like camera, sunblock, glasses, and more. Small capacity, but has extra pockets and clip on tabs as well. We like the included waterproof cover. Ours has the old quick release design, which is very difficult to use. There is a newer quick release (Fixer 8), which should fix the problem. Be sure to get the newer model - REI only had the old one. Also, be sure to use the included cable, otherwise the clamps allow it to sag, as others have pointed out. Rugged construction and excellent padding- really well made. Highly recommended, as long as you can live with the small space.

Comments about Topeak Compact Handlebar Bag:
I agree with the sag issue. I had a hard time getting the mounting bracket tight enough to keep the bag from sagging down. This isn't a problem for me, however, as I like it down so that I can put a light on the extra bar that comes with the pack. It has been a good little bag, for the money.
