This compact, hand-held instrument accurately and quickly determines wind speed, temperature, windchill, relative humidity, heat stress and dewpoint.

  • Temperature, wind chill, heat stress and dewpoint can be measured from -20°F to 158°F; temp can also be displayed in Celsius
  • With a low start-up speed, it is possible to gauge wind speeds ranging from 0.7 to 89 mph
  • Monitor maximum, average and current wind speed in mph, kmh, ft/min, m/s knots and beaufort force
  • Track relative humidity from 5% to 95%

      I've had this Kestrel 3000 for about a year now, and am very pleased with it. As part of my SAR training, I'm required to keep training logs of my and my dogs progress. All the factors that are included in the K3000 are part of the log. We can record temp, wind speed (in Beaufort), RH, etc., and that gives me a really good indication for POD. The only detraction - it would be great to include the stand with the unit rather than as a separate purchase. Otherwise, this is in my 24 hr redipac all the time!!

      The Kestrel 3000 is perfect for kayaking, cycling, camping, fishing and hunting. When on the water or on 2 wheels it is good to know the wind speed and temperature as they affect both paddling and peddling. When fishing, knowing the water temp helps to determine how to fish and what species to target. When kayaking the kestrel won't sink when you accidentally drop it overboard (it's not if but when you drop it). It is easy to use and easy to read. I use my on all sorts of outdoor adventures and hate to be without it.
