The Outdoor Research Crocodile® gaiters keep snow out of your boots while climbing mountains, cross-country skiing or hiking over snow fields.

Gore-Tex®/Taslan® nylon uppers are waterproof and breathable; durable lower panels of coated Cordura® nylon are lined with packcloth
Changing the amount of overlap on the 2-inch wide rip-and-stick closure adjusts the bottom circumference, allowing a fit over different boots
Top closes with an adjustable 0.75-in. wide nylon webbing strap and a low-profile cam buckle
Tapered at the ankle, reducing crampon-catching fabric; asymmetric bottom edge provides a sleek, snug fit around the boot
Rugged, urethane-coated nylon instep strap with buckle secures the fit; instep strap is replaceable
Use the double-riveted boot lace hook to keep the Outdoor Research Crocodile gaiters from shifting

These gaitors have set the bar for over a decade and continue to do so. Sure they seem a little pricey when you're shopping around but there is no product out there that is more solid than then Crocs. The rugged canvas will put up with ski edges, crampons, the stiffest treeline shrubbery and the nastiest scree. I've used these in Ecuador, Peru, Chile, the PNW, Yukon, Nepal, BC, New Zealand and Alaska and have never been disappointed. You wont be either. The Goretex is fantastic and if you're fast enough you can even make calf-deep river crossings without getting your feet wet. You'll feel like a jesus lizard!

These are great gaiters! Extremely rugged (have withstood the test of time with crampons) and full coverage. Some gaiters seem to skimp on the material and don't offer full coverage. You will not be disappointed with these. 5 stars.

I am looking for a new pair of gaiter only because the pair I wear are too small for the plastic boots I just got. It made me think about how long I have had my old ones. Going on 18 years now and I can honestly say they are the BEST outdoor product I have ever purchased. I wear them to keep snow, mud, rock and everything out of my boots. They have been bullet proof and handled anything I have tried to stuff in them. I reccomend them to ALL my friends and I have not heard one complaint.

They are waterproof! Not water resistant. I went hiking up on Mt. Mitchell after hurricane sandy came through and dumped a lot of snow on the western side of North Carolina. Never once did I feel any wetness when I got up on the top of Mt. Mitchell to change my wool socks out. They stayed right were I needed up, it felt like there was a lot more ankle support, never once did they fall on me. I would buy these again if they were to be stolen from me.

I haven't had these for too long but I love them!! These are excellent when you are walking through prickly bushes and touchy terrain. When I'm out on a rescue I'm mainly focusing on finding my patient not the painful bushes around my feet so its nice to know that I'm not gonna get too scratched up. Plus they keep my pants intact and a lot cleaner then they would be otherwise. They are great and I would highly recommend spending the extra money to get the crocs because the replaceable boot strap is a god sent.

These have been my go-to gaiters for nearly 5 years now. I've beaten on them and they've taken everything I can give them without a lot of obvious wear. One of the underfoot straps snapped after about 3 years, but I replaced it and they've been fine since. The strap and clip system holds the top up nicely, even over my rather large calves. It's comfortable too, without being too tight. They're also extremely water-resistant. The Gore-Tex is solid, the seams are tight, and the top-strap keeps most everything out. (Full Disclosure: I bought these gaiters at a local shop, but have been testing products for a Gore-sponsored program since 2007. Didn't change my opinion though.)

These are a perfect fit. Most gaiters are too short and sit halfway up my calf and then slip down. These are long enough to fit snuggly over the top of my calf and stay there all day despite the terrain. I've used them in construction projects as well. My son also has a pair and used them for two seasons of tree planting in rocky terrain. They show no wear at all!

So I got these for a snowshoeing trip to Northern Colorado. They're great. They go on as easily as you could expect and when you get them fit right, they are very secure. The velcro is REALLY strong stuff and very effective.

I got XL (biggest the store carried) and unfortunately not big enough. I am willing to believe that if I had the time and ordered XXL they would have been OK. As it is - they still function 100%, but the velcro on the front side of the largest part of my calf doesn't come flush and perhaps it is OCD but that frustrates me. It is only 1/8th inch, plus it doesn't lay quite flat. But, It is high enough and there's still plenty of velcro such that I noticed no leaking.

After each whole day in fresh powder, my toes in my WATERPROOF boots were damp (soak-through), but the dampness ended where my gaiters began. Mission accomplished.

Very rugged design and materials and the quality was top-notch.

I have owned a pair of these gaiters in the past and loved them. HOWEVER, my old pair finally wore out about 1 1/2 years ago and I purchased a new pair. I am now on my third pair since then. On the last two pair the stitching has come undone after just a couple of uses. Thank god for the return policy at REI. I'd get a pair from a different manufacturer, but they do not carry any at my local store.
