Great for winter bicycling

When bicycle commuting to work all-year-round, this balaclava lets you be prepared for whatever the whether may be...it doesn't matter if it is blisteringly cold, exceptionally windy, wet-snow coming down, etc., it helps you be prepared to face it straight-on. Fits nicely underneath the bike helmet. Hang it up and it is dry by the time work is over and ready again for the winter bike ride home. At first I felt it was rather pricey for a hat/scarf type of replacement, but I'm so glad I bought it. Hope they're available in the future if mine ever wears out. After one full winter of using it, I see very little wear and tear on it. Definitely recommend it to others.

Great Warmth, OK breathability

I have worn this about six times in the last month or so for cycling in dry weather from about 25 F down to the low teens. It goes on a little tight, but fits well once the head is in. It keeps the head warm and has a neck covering long enough to tuck well into the jacket and keep the wind out. It does not breathe well, so I finish very sweaty. This is fine for me as I typically start and finish at my apartment or workplace. The mouth-nose area is not well positioned for my head, so the design of that area to help you breath is only marginally useful for me. The chin strap of my helmet changes the shape of the mouth-nose area a bit, so the positioning I found in the store - which was fine - is not how it works in practice. Consequently, once my legs are warmed up and I get going, I often need to pull the mouth protection away to get enough air. I can ride in colder weather with this than I could with only a skull cap, but the mouth-nose area could use more work, at least for me.

L/XL for commuting on Bike

PRO- AWESOME material. In 38 degrees, headwind out of the north, and up to 30 MPH, my head is completely sweating. Could not ask for more from that aspect. CON- HORRIBLE fit. Not enough material used for the mouth piece of fabric. When covering the mouth, the top edge will eventually migrate down to below my bottom lip with out being adjusted every 1/4 mile or more. Mild fogging on hills also caused by poor fit. Becomes a safety concern having a hand off of the handles this much, all because of the poor design. Would only recommend depending on their ability to fit it properly.

GREAT Winter Investment

I live in New York City and ride my scooter at approximately 20 mph under 20°. So I was really looking for some thing that was going to be very thick, and the reason why I like this better is because even though it’s not that thick, once it wraps around your head it completely insulate your head very well against the wind. I complement it with a neck gaiter as well as the beanie to make sure that I don’t look too goofy on my scooter.

functions well

I bought a L/XL and it fits well. It fits best when your nose and mouth are covered. It says that there are three ways to wear it, and I'd say for my contours, there are 1.5 ways that fit well on me. But when it's cold outside, it's hard to complain because this is really warm and really windproof. I can comfortably walk home from work when it's -6 degrees F (like yesterday!). I also have the hood of my shell on for added protection.

Love it

Fits exactly as expected, actually warmer then expected but love the versatility. I use it at work where I use a plow truck and snow blowers has worked extremely so far this year

Not for use with glasses

This product is great for warmth, but when I use it as a face mask, my glasses fog up every time I exhale. Aside from that, great product.

Great in cold weather...

I have used the Clava in -50 weather and it works very well. Only reason not to give it 5 stars is if you have a large forehead (I do) you have to pull hard to get complete coverage and I ordered a large. Otherwise works great

Great for MN winter weather

A good cover for nasty winter weather. I got the largest size available, and it was still a little snug(i have a pretty large head & have trouble with just about ANY hats/headgear fitting). Overall it offers great protection, and the versatility helps. The nose/mouth vent is great too, I also have the UnderArmor ColdGear clava - which works well, but this clava is much better suited for the coldest/wind-iest weather conditions.

Better size up

Bought this over the weekend. I have a head circumference of about 22" and got the S/M. It was a very snug fit. After wearing a while it was too snug. My other complaint was that the front bottom portion that covers the front part of your neck wouldn't lay down on the neck leaving a gap of about 2". So bottom line is the item is not sized properly. I am giving it 3 stars because it is otherwise well made, breathes well and seems very durably constructed. I am returning for the OR Gorilla Balaclava.
