Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxer Briefs - Men's:
I have pairs I bought in 2005 that are still in great shape compared to the many pairs I have purchased since the material change that have bombed out. [...] I have been wearing the same type since 1997 and it is very frustrating. I am surprised there are not more comments to this point. The degradation in quality is obvious.

The previous style had a much better material. I don't understand why they made the change.

Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxer Briefs - Men's:
I totally agree with the previous user. I have used the REI MTS briefs for as long as they've made them and each pair has performed great. I bought six new pair in April as some of my other pairs, each over 5 years old, needed replaced. These six new I bought in April are already worn out. Very disappointed in why the change was made. Coke went back to the real thing, REI should too on these briefs.

REI - Why did you mess with a Great Product?? I got about 1/2 dozen pair about 2 years ago and they wear like iron and feel awesome. They don't hold smell after washing and none of the original set has any worn spots.
The new set I got last year (about 5 pairs) are horrible. The material is thinner and 2 pair have had their crotches alreeady worn away. The material doesnot have the elasticity like the old set and has a synthetic hand to it, unlike the cotton-like hand of the old style.
I supplanted the crotched-out sets with some new REI mesh Boxer Briefs, but the mesh hold the stink.
Please go back to your old boxer Briefs from 2 years ago. Why did you mess with them?? Only to have me go through the new style quicker and buy more???? Bad move Dudes.

The new material is absolutely terrible. I've worn these underwear for years and have been hooked on them. I was totally disappointed by the new material. They're at best run of the mill and feel no different than a low priced cotton pair. Don't waste your money! REI PLEASE GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL MATERIAL!!!!! THESE ARE TERRIBLE!!!

Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxer Briefs - Men's:
My older pairs of these shorts are great. I am not experiencing a wearing out problem like the other reviewers because I don't even wear them enough to wear them out I dislike them so much. The new ones ride up on the leg and bunch up in my crotch to the point where I feel like I am wearing a brief. Also, if you sit for any period of time I feel they chafe my rear. The old ones stayed put and I agree were much softer and held up more. If you can go back to previous material and style REI, please do!

This was once a great product, now they wear out in a single season. They would be worth [$] a pair, but not their current price.

Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxer Briefs - Men's:
i've been using these undies for yrs. recently i've been questioning why i keep going back to them but then again it's all about the right price. the price is often right with all REI products but perhaps the quality is another thing. i highly recommend REI to go back to the old blend of materials even though it may make them a lil bit heavier. i've had 4 pairs now develop holes in the crotch within just 2 months of purchase. come on now guys.

Skip this item. It's made of a material that retains and even enhances odor. I have tested it several times and even after a single day of casual, city use ... it smells terrible.
Do not buy this expensive piece of clothing.

Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxer Briefs - Men's:
So, I love these bad-boys. I have like 10 pair despite the price, and I will continue to wear them. The only problem that I see is that they wear out somewhat quickly where my thighs rub. but backpacking, running, traveling for business, these can't be beat. They can be washed and dried within a couple of hours, and the size remains constant no matter the bachelor-esque washing treatment. Further, if you want to keep the ole under-carriage dry, these are the right choice.
