Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxers - Men's:
I have purchased MTS boxers in the past and they were an excellent quality. I just bought 10 new pair and they are terrible. The quality of the material is leaves much to be desired. Why change the material to something cheaper? Who made such a bad decision.

Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxers - Men's:
I loved the old version, which had the REI logo on the waistband. The material felt just like cotton, but wicked moisture and dried incredibly quickly. The fit was ideal, and the colors looked great.
The new version is terrible in comparison. The legs are absurdly long; they go halfway to me knees and inevitably ride up until the material bunches. The material doesn't feel the same---it's much more synthetic---and they've even replaced the great old colors (a nice mottled gray, blue, and thinly-striped red) with some nasty plastic-looking things. I used to buy all my underwear from REI; now I'll have to look elsewhere.

The new version of these boxers are too long, have a different "feel" and not the same quality of the original

Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxers - Men's:
These are the only underwear I own now. Very comfortable, like i'm not wearing anything at all,oh my! After reading the other reviews on this product, I wonder what REI did to downgrade this product? I am very happy with my purchase.

Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxers - Men's:
I have been wearing the REI MTS underwear for years and have been very happy with the fit and durability. However, this newer version is lacking in durability. A couple pairs I have only had for about a year already have holes in the crotch while I still have older pairs from years ago that are in perfect shape. REI...go back to the old material.
Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxers - Men's:
Over the years REI has changed the material and fit of these boxers. So just like just about everything else in the world we see change for changes sake rather than a true improvement. Some of the past models have been great others mediocre at best. REI: get feed back from real users and listen UP!! And quit changing things that work well for goodness sake!!

Relied on these for several years but the latest batch are terrible. They wear out too quickly and it seems like the legs are longer. Longer wouldn't be bad if they stayed in place but they don't. Instead they ride up. Go back to the old design. Just because you can change a design doesn't mean you should.

Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxers - Men's:
I bought a few pairs of these because they were cheaper than [...] tech-wick boxers. BIG mistake. REI's product is GARBAGE. The thing is this; they're only cheaper in the long-run if they DON'T WEAR OUT IN 2 MONTHS. If I wanted clothing that wears out in 10 uses, I'd go back to shopping at Express for Men. The[...] boxers are 100 times the value of these pieces of trash because they actually hold up over time. I believe that company's purposely manufacture things from poor materials in hopes that when they fall apart you will go back and buy more. I no longer shop at REI.

Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxers - Men's:
Would agree with the majority of the previous comments. The older version of these boxer briefs lasted a really long time and fit well. Because I had such a great experience with my first set, I bought another four and was disappointed with the durability; they all have split from leg opening to leg opening with only the stitching holding them together. I want to get my money out of them, but they really are not functional as underwear anymore (unless you like the high ventilation kind).
I was fine with the new material feel, it was the durability that killed them off. Also, the sizing truly changed. They fit like a glove before, but these seem like the sizing model they fitted them to had one to many donuts (ie leg opening too large).

Comments about REI Midweight MTS Boxers - Men's:
Not sure where all the bad reviews are coming from. I had a pair of these I bought a few years ago which were very comfortable although they have pilled slightly over time. Just bought a few new pairs though and I really like the new material as it is lighter than the previous material. I bought them in the store (Jun '09) so I'm not sure if they changed the material again or not. The material is great for active or hot weather and traveling as it wicks moisture and resists smelling even after the hottest most active days. They are easy to hand wash and dry very quickly. Personally, I thought they performed much better than the Ex Officio boxers which took much longer to dry and didn't wick nearly as well. In regards to fit, I didn't notice any major differences in the length compared to previous versions although it is worth noting that these fit fairly snuggly and are more similar to a boxer brief than a pair of boxers. Don't take the reviews too much to heart and give a pair a try.
