I leave the rack on my car the majority of the time, doesn't rust, sturdy, and I feel confident that my bike isn't going to fall off.

Comments about Yakima SuperJoe 3 Trunk Rack:

I use this as often as possible.. i must say having just one bike on the rack is very sturdy, going 100+mph on the highways still didnt move a bit at all... the straps are pretty easy to use, the mount itself where the bike sits is adjustable also... one down fall is mounting 2 or 3 more bikes it become unstable.. you can see it in the rear view mirror that it sways left to right but just know the fact that you can tighten the mains straps.. but over all its good!!

Comments about Yakima SuperJoe 3 Trunk Rack:

I would not reccomend this for a SUV. I have been using Yakima racks exclusively since 1990 and this is the worst product I have ever used from Yakima. I had three bikes on it and when going over Altimount pass on our way to Yosemite, the bottom two straps came unhooked from my vehicle. Everything started to sway left and right and I had to stop on the side of the highway to re-adjust and re-hook the straps. Even when put on correct, the bikes and rack sway a bunch side to side the whole time we were driving. I would pull them tight at every stop but it doesn't help the sway. I had to keep watching them in my mirror and kept me stressed the whole drive we would loose the bikes. The side straps also broke pieces off both rear tailights. I needed a rack for three bikes and the REI store in San Francsico did not have any other racks like this for 3 bikes. I wanted to buy the more expensive rack, that seems to be more stable and had better reviews, but this is all they had. I now have to go return it to get my money back, but who is going to pay for my broken tailights? I guess that would be me! Might be time to start using Thule or some other competitor?

Comments about Yakima SuperJoe 3 Trunk Rack:

We bought this when we got our son a bike (we previously had a 2 bike saris). The yakima was billed as an "upgrade"- other than having space for the third bike, the saris was better. The Yakima is not stable at all- if you go over railroad tracks or bumps in the road, it becomes unstable, and we constantly have to stop and readjust the straps which is very frustrating.
