These inserts (or footbeds) are used mainly in my hiking boots for comfort, support, and to absorb a lot of the impact involved in hiking trails and mountain climbing. Have used others but these are the best I have found mainly because of my high arches. This is my second pair which I plan to use in climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in August 2013. They are extremely comfortable and I don't wind up nursing my feet after a long hike. They provide fantastic support for my whole foot, not just my arch. The difference between regular inserts and these is enormous if you plan to walk in rocky terrain or in a rough environment. At the end of the day they are worth the price, my feet are worth much more.

arch too aggressive

After wearing these for several months and hoping I'd get used to them, I finally had to give up. I found that the arch support was just "too aggressive." It's too high and hurts my feet. If you need a lot of arch support these may be for you, but if you have a neutral foot these may be a little too much for you.

A must have if you experience foot pain.

I recently purchased these for a two-week trip to Brazil because I knew I would be doing a ton of walking and have experienced foot pain in the past during trips where I've done a lot of walking. These were incredibly comfortable and I didn't experience any foot pain, and I walked several miles every day. I preferred not to heat mold them in the oven. Rather, I just let my feet do the molding with use, which the company's web site recommends for those with high arches. I wish the instructions that came with the product mentioned this, as I don't think everyone with high arches will intuitively go to the web site for additonal information.

Good Arch, Poor Size

These had the highest arch of anything I could find in REI, and they made the difference between a super sore morton's toe and a great, enjoyable hike through the Santa Lucia's. These kept up there support through moderate, 10 mile, 2600 v. ft days, even under 300 lbs of weight (me and pack). The downside is, as with many high arched insoles, these took up a lot of space in my hiking shoes (Teva 4103), so it didn't cup my heal as well as it did with the previous insoles. If you, as I do, already have high volume feet, you may struggle to find a shoe or boot with enough volume for these and your feet. If you can though, they're great for the arch, and shaped my foot well enough to relieve most, if not all, of the pressure from morton's toe.

Best I've tried!

In 2007 hubby and I had to abort our AT thru-hike attempt due to my severe foot pain. Ortho said that my arches were collapsing. I used the $300 Rx insoles for a year and never went back. Kept trying OTC brands and various arch supports in my boots (I only use them for hiking/backpacking). Some worked okay, but just okay and I could live with them. Bought a brand new pair of boots at REI 3 weeks ago and needed to get new insoles. Clerk recommended Super Feet first, but I'd tried those on that AT hike and they ate my feet up. So I bought a pair of these because I liked the idea of being able to heat mold them. LOVE THEM! I've done 6 long day hikes in them, all 6 - 10 miles, and zero foot pain. My feet don't even feel vaguely sore or stiff like they usually did after a hike on rough terrain. I've tried them on flat ground (paved) and on very rugged trail beds - no problems. My husband wants a pair of them now.

As good as the $600 inserts.

If you have been looking some inserts to get rid of Plantar Fasciitis, you don't really have to spend $600+tax. These are as good in function. The best thing is that they are heat-moldable. In case they do not completely fit to your foot's structure/shape, you can mold them to match it. Their high arch helps you get rid of Plantar Fasciitis and round heal cup helps making the heal part comfortable. Most inserts you find at walmart or other stores, are flexible. That means the moment you put weight on them, they also bend. That doe not help anything more than just proving a little cusion to your feet. SOLE Ed Viesturs keep their shape, and available in three different levels of peddings on them. I highly recommend them for anyone who has been in the pain of Plantar Fasciitis. I wish I could have found these much earlier. I could have saved hundreds of $$$ I spent on trying various brands, and still suffered the pain.

Best product of its kind on the market IMHO

Best combination of custom forming, supportive yet padded insole available to the average person. Best of all, they are relatively affordable. The cost may be $50, but they will last through multiple pairs of shoes and make nearly any pair of shoes better. The only caveat with this pair is that they are thick. I take them with me to buy any new shoes and immediately take out the factory insoles. Insert these and make sure the new shoes will accommodate the thickness. Or you can use the pair they make that is just like these, but with slightly less padding. I had plantar fasciitis bad a few years back and these combined with quality shoes and stretching has basically made it a thing of the past. Give them a try, I think you'll be equally pleased.

worth the price

I'm on my feet most of my work day. I run for cardio and do pretty intense leg workouts a couple times a week in hiking boots for stability and support. I've got a pair of these insoles in all of my shoes. They're what I buy whenever REI offers a discount coupon. I prefer these to Superfeet Green.

Love them!

I am a runner that has struggled with plantar fasciitis. The hard custom inserts were too hard for me but the Sole inserts are perfect! I keep them in my running shoes, my fun shoes and I use the winter ones for my workboots (EMS). The inserts last a long time and hold up to my constant activity.

the best..

I love all Sole's inserts, this one's the most cushioned - feels like walking on a cloud - they're super supportive, perfect for my aching feet (neuromas, metatarsal issues, repeat twists, tendonitis, etc). I spent a lot of time and money going to 4 podiatrists - got their orthotics.. none of them worked. My feet haven't hurt since I started wearing any of Sole's higher arched products. They're the best.
