Comments about Crank Brothers Power Pump Pro:

I originally bought this pump because it was small enough to fit in my frame bag with a spare, looked durable, and had a built in gauge. I am still happy with these qualities, but when I got a flat on the road I found the pump mediocre. It was tedious and strenuous to get my 26x2 tires up to their minimum inflation of 40 psi. The two pressure setting are a joke. One pumps air but is hard to use, while the other is easy to pump but won't budge the gauge. I also lost much of my effort removing the pump with its clumsy twist release. For a positive I found the gauge accurate when compared to my floor pump. Overall I recommend this pump for someone who cycles near home and rarely gets flats or anyone obsessed with size and weight over performance. However, after limping across town on a half deflated tire, exhausted from pumping, I am looking for a pump with more power.

Comments about Crank Brothers Power Pump Pro:

I love this pump it does everything I want it to... it does take some getting used to getting the pump on the valve correctly. I used it on recent tours and it held up well I agree with the reviewer that said you need bicep strength to get into the high air pressure range. It didn't work to well for my bike air horn. This was a good purchase from REI

Comments about Crank Brothers Power Pump Pro:

I bought this pump because it was compact and had a psi gauge. The one time that I had a flat, I found it extremely hard to use. The package described it as easy to use. Yeah right! If you have a road bike you can forget about getting your tire up to its recommended PSI. This device takes forever to use and it is hard as heck to pump with. You might be better off with a CO2 device or a different product. Although, if you are set on this pump it will get you by in a jam. I just hope you have strong arms.

Comments about Crank Brothers Power Pump Pro:

This pump is a beauty. But second time I used it, the alloy part separated from the plastic and the threads are gone so it won't tighten anymore and when pumping the two parts will just come off. crank brothers has a lifetime warranty on it. I want to send it in but it takes a while to get it back and I have to pay the shipping and such. I really wish it had been more durable.

Great ULTRA compact pump!

Comments about Crank Brothers Power Pump Pro:

I've used plastic bike pumps, (I won't mention the name) and plastic cracks on hard impact. If you carry your pump in your pack, I would opt-in for a metal bike pump, and here is one option you have! Not only that but CrankBrothers claims lifetime warranty on the PP pro, and they even have instructions on how to service the pump!

With a built in gauge it measures relative close to actual pressure +-2 psi. (Based against my blackburn floor pump, my digital gauge would probably give me a bad reading since it's a schrader input)

I was considering the Silca hand pump, but it didn't have a gauge and it would be annoying to change out heads if you wanted to use different inputs.

The only thing I really hate about this pump is putting 8x more effort into a tube, but that's what you get for a shorter more compact light weight bike pump.

Oh and on top of that good luck trying to run high pressure mode to get to 65 psi on a mountain bike tube! 26x2.1 tire! So basically I rely on this pump for a temporary fix...

Comments about Crank Brothers Power Pump Pro:

Inflates my 700C's OK for its size. 2-position ring at bottom: high volume/high pressure. Dunno what HV is for; you need HP for bike tires and it easily slips into the wrong position. I set mine to HP then wrapped electrician's tape round the bottom and secured the tape with a zip tie. Happy pumper!

Comments about Crank Brothers Power Pump Pro:

Selling points for me were small size (fits in a pocket on my cargo shorts), ability to fit both Schrader and Presta valves WITHOUT dismantling the darn thing, built in pressure guage and metal construction. It did take me a few tries to get comfortable with the mechanism for 'choosing/locking' the pump to the valve but it's pretty intuitive. You will need some bicep strength because of the short stroke length but it's better than most frame pumps that I've tried. (I still keep my old floor-model Silca in the garage for 'big jobs.') If you never need the ability to swap valve types without going through a lot of hassle then you could probably find a less-expensive pump that would do the trick...but I'm pretty happy that I picked this one.

I have used this pump on countless training rides over the years. Both mountain and road.

Most of the complaints about the head come from the internals of the head being brand new. Use it a few times and it will loosen up providing years of service.

Comments about Crank Brothers Power Pump Pro:

I picked up this pump on a really good sale. It works well for my trail bike, but not as well for my road bike. However, for the size, I'm not sure what one would expect. I purchased this pump to use along the trail and for this application it has never let me down. I think the dual stage settings are a nice feature a work quite well. Keep in mind that it will take some work to fill an entire tire, but not more than I would expect with a pump this size. The pump sits unused in my hydration pack the majority of the time so I like how compact and lightweight it is.

I finally had a need to use this on the road last week, and found that I could barely get enough air in my tire to finish the ride. It also took several tries to get it to properly engage the presta valve and make a positive seal. [...] Last Crank Brothers product for me.
