The REI Member Dividend

These are the Mercedes-Benz of locking 'biners. Only Petzl can compete, but theirs are all bigger, bulkier, heavier (and certainly appropriate for plenty of applications). These represent the great majority of my locking 'biner collection, due to their smooth action, snagless, keylock nose, and perfect size. BD's Quicksilver screwgate is about the same, but without that great snagless nose. If you can afford these Positrons, get them!

These are very nice lockers, relatively low weight and a nice size. I bought it to use on the end of my daisy chain and it works very well for that with one exception. When the gate snaps shut it cuts the keylock nose and creates a bur that snags the dyneema daisy chain. You might want to keep a small file handy to take care of this if it happens with yours. Both that I own have this issue.
I am still considering purchasing more for anchor building despite this minor flaw.

I've used these carabiners' for many years as a white water rafting guide. They are excellent at clipping my gear into the boat, and for attaching my flip line to the boat in a quick and efficient manner.

Do your research and compare! This is the best carabiner on the market for the price, quality and strength. Only con that I have noticed is when the carabiner is upside down and the gate is open, the screw gate can sometimes slide down and block the gate from closing. Only happened to me once, but just because I wasn't paying attention and being sloppy. Even with that I would hands down trust the device with my life.

I have two of these and I love them! Lightweight, strong, quick and easy to use. Gate opens wide and screws securely (assuming you lock down). I have never had one open on me when properly secured. Overall great biner!
