The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Petzl Tactikka Plus LED Headlamp:
I bought the first one to use in my property inspection and assessment work. My brother, a caretaker and property manager in the Adirondacks, liked it so well I gave it to him. I missed having it and bought another. I don't have to tie up one hand holding a flashlight while trying to write inspection reports. I've used it for hiking and even reading in the evening. The red flip-down lens lets me look at star charts without wrecking my night vision.

Comments about Petzl Tactikka Plus LED Headlamp:
I find this to be an excellent value in military tactical headlights. Mine has got to be getting close to 10 years old. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have changed the batteries.
The red flip lens is the deal closer. It's the only light I have seen with a permanently attached red filter. This is key for two reasons. 1) Who wants to fiddle around with removable lenses in a field environment and 2) The magic button press to get a red LED to come on with other lights, invariably turns on the white LED, if briefly. This is unacceptable in a tactical environment. No worries with the Tactikka. Simply flip the filter up or down. Thank you Petzl!
The lumens of this light seems to be about perfect. There are always situations where you can use more light, but that's what my SureFire flashlights are for. To be honest, my wife has the Tikka Plus 2 rated for 70 lumens, and sidy by side, I can't tell the difference.

Comments about Petzl Tactikka Plus LED Headlamp:
After having an older Tikka Plus for years, and trying a Tikka Plus 2 with the rechargeable CORE system (junk), it was time to go to back to old faithful. The Tactikka Plus makes things a lot easier if you want to use a red filter -- you just flip it up since it's permanently attached. No magic button presses or complex UI. While the light output and color rendition (these are older technology direct-drive 5mm LEDs) of the Tactikka Plus probably won't win any awards, that's okay. For us, this is being used for close-up work around the house, camping, traveling, etc. We don't need a searchlight searing our retinas at these distances. (That's what the flashlights are for anyways.) Caveats: You probably want something much more powerful for an activity like trail running. Beware that Petzl doesn't advocate using lithium batteries in this headlamp, as the circuitry supposedly can't handle it.

Comments about Petzl Tactikka Plus LED Headlamp:
I ordered this headlamp after doing a lot of research online. For the price, I don't think this headlamp can be beat. Great quality, multiple brightness settings (including a strobe mode), flip up red filter, lightweight, and comfortable. The red lens is great for use at night when you don't want to light up a huge area and/or you want to preserve your night vision. The multiple brightness settings allow you to tailor the light to your specific need and save on battery life by using a lower setting. I use mine for a lot of chores around my yard at night, as I don't have a lot of lights on the sides of my house. I live in the desert and have to deal with scorpions, rattlesnakes and river toads, and having a light like this is nice when I'm taking out the trash at night and don't want to give up the use of one hand by carrying a flashlight. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this light.

Comments about Petzl Tactikka Plus LED Headlamp:
Has held up well for many years. I like the red flip-down cover, which is handy in not annoying too many campers when moving around the campground at dark. The tilting head is a real positive. I like adjusting it while laying in the sleeping bag reading. The lowest brightness setting is what I leave it on 90% of the time. The batteries therefore last a really long time. The only negative I see to this headlamp is that it is a little bulky due to the strap.

Comments about Petzl Tactikka Plus LED Headlamp:
I've been using this headlamp for the last 7 years and it shows no sign of giving up. It's been a staple in my bag or my truck.
The battery life is the best thing about this headlamp. I can use it daily for weeks on end before changing out the batteries. The red lens is durable and won't break. It's pretty water resistant; the only downside I've noticed is that a little rust will accumulate in the plastic housing, but that's unavoidable if you're using it in a humid or seaside environment.
It's very durable, lightweight, and when I'm wearing a helmet or don't want it on my head it's easy to drop down and keep around my neck. Sometimes I'll forget it's even there.
I've bought 3 of these because they're so handy to have in the car or around the house.

Comments about Petzl Tactikka Plus LED Headlamp:
The lamp is comfortable to wear and is bright. The red light cover is an excellent idea. However, the red filter cover does not quite close all the way, and there's a small gap around the top edge through which the white LEDs can be seen. This is enough to spoil people's night vision. Perhaps the cover on mine doesn't close as far as its supposed to? I'm returning this since I really want a solid red light feature.

Comments about Petzl Tactikka Plus LED Headlamp:
Bought this for night running and have since found so many uses! I use it for night running (with or without a hat/visor). The red flipdown is great when you are looking for gear at home at 4am and don't want to wake anyone with bright light. I also use it for work around the house that requires light but where I prefer to be hands-free. Best. Purchase. Ever.

Comments about Petzl Tactikka Plus LED Headlamp:
Another great light that served well in the harsh desert conditions. I had to change the batteries once in 7 months and this was used almost every single night. The option to flip to a red light is great to avoid killing your night vision.
