I walk 3 miles every day during my noon hour. I quit wearing cotton socks entirely when I discovered SmartWool socks. They feel and look great, I like the support and close fit, but have become very disillusioned with the durability in the last year or two. I have pairs that look like new--until I check the soles. Almost all of my newer pairs have holes. I have similar socks by other manufacturers that are clearly somewhat worn on uppers and soles, but have no holes. If I didn't have these other brands of socks to compare to, I might have concluded that I was simply really hard on my socks, but now I think I should be expecting a lot more. The durability seemed better when I started buying them--has SmartWool changed materials? I'm trying other brands, thanks.

After getting some advice from friends, I bought several pairs of Smartwool socks to backpack Europe in. I don't regret spending the money! They were comfortable and didn't stink after running around all day in Gore-Tex lined sneakers! The only thing I can even conceive to complain about is the drying time. When I washed them in a sink at night and hung them until morning, they would be the only item of clothing I had that still felt a little damp. Now that I'm home, I just toss them in the dryer, though, so no worries! Try them!

I love the way Smartwool socks hug your feet. This pair was the first SW socks I owned and now that's all I ever want to buy or wear. They're warm in winter but comfortable all year round, and wear really well. 3 years later I'm still wearing them and only now the back part where my ankle bone sticks out is wearing slightly thing - before, i used to wear through the backs and soles of socks quickly wearing them around all the time...not these, they're very durable! Hardly any pilling after all the washing.
