Need half sizes
I really liked the arch support on these, but the sizing was a little off. I am normally a size 8, and the size 8 was ok, but just a smidgen too small, whereas the 9 was too loose. I could have lived with that, but the straps and toe strap were from this fabric with slightly sharp edges - nowhere near butter soft - and I thought the flips would need breaking in. So I did not buy them this time around. I bought the Sanuk yoga mat padded sandals instead and have been wearing them all day! Very comfy, but no arch support. Maybe I might give these Chaco flips a go later. Would recommend these if they fit size wise on you - if they do, the straps are probably ok as well.
*the* perfect sandals
These are my "It's raining!" flip flops. I have a pair of the leather Chaco flips for when it's sunny and I know they won't be getting all icked up. I have high arches that need a lot of support, am prone to plantar fasciitis, and have a old stress fracture that acts up in one foot. In short, my feet are high maintenance. These (and other Chacos) are the only flip flops I can wear that don't aggravate any of those conditions. For awhile, I was walking around 10 miles a day in these things, with zero problems or pain. No chafing between the toes and no pain from the strap on top of my foot, but they aren't prone to slipping off. I got my regular size and they fit perfectly.
Love Love Love
I bought these flip flops in July of 2004 when I was nine months pregnant with my 1st child. They fit my swollen feet, made walking and standing comfortable again and I feel like I have not taken them off since. I have perfectly worn grooves for each toe and will need to resole them soon, but they are the best shoe/sandal I've ever had. So now, two more pregnancies later, these flip flops have traversed many a mile at the zoo, beach, park, and most recently Disney World!! My feet never feel sore after one of those long days, it's amazing! I highly recommend these flip flops! Five years and going strong!
Amazing.
These are truly amazing shoes - I've had the same pair for four years and they are indestructible. I wore them nearly every day through various trips to Africa, Haiti and elsewhere, and as all the rest of my gear fell apart, these shoes still had no problems. Perhaps the only drawback to these are that when they get wet, they tend to stay wet. Throw them in the sun for a couple hours and they'll be good as new, but if you get stuck in a rainstorm and don't have time to set them out to dry, the strap is going to be damp until you take them off. You can expect a bit of chafing when that happens, but that's pretty much going to be the case for any wet sandal... Absolutely worth the money.
Great Flip Flops!
These flip flops are pretty amazing. I can wear them for hours and still be comfortable. I live in Southern California, so I can wear sandals much of the year, and my Chacos are my first choice. I am currently pregnant, and I can wear these all day while keeping up with my two year old son and not have sore feet at the end of the day. I've had the same pair for over a year, and they still look great. I also love that they can get wet! I bought a pair for my husband who usually uses arch supports in his shoes and he concedes that they have decent arch support and are pretty comfortable.
Great comfort
I have the leather version of the Chaco flip. I love the bit of arch support. They offer a bit of cushion, but not so much that you can't sense the ground. I also love that they have Vibram soles so I'm not afraid to walk on wet sidewalks. I'm a 5.5 so it was a tough choice. The size five was a tad tight, the size 6 was a tad too loose. My only complaint is that the stitching on the underside of the fabric that joins the straps to the toe thong sometimes irritates the top of my foot. Amazing how something so small can rub against the skin.
I love this shoe!
I cannot say how much I love these shoes! I bought a pair early in the summer and wore them almost everyday! I recently bought my 2nd pair (in plain black, my first ones where the purple striped). They are so comfortable and have great support! My only complaint is that they run smaller than my other Chacos. I wear a 6 in the Z1 so when I found a pair of the flips [...]I ordered a 6. Sadly, they were much to small and I had to return them for a 7 (which was not on sale). But even though I paid full price I still love them just as much!
Best. Flips. Ever.
I first heard of Chaco's when I moved to Seattle in 2008. Bought these in black and have never worn another brand since then. In fact, I am still wearing the first pair of black Chaco flip flops I purchased in 2008. They are indestructible. The footbed on these flip flops provide excellent traction for bare feet, especially when wet. Especially important when I come out of the water after scuba diving. Trying to take off heavy gear while wearing slippery flip flops is a recipe for disaster. I've never had a single problem when I wear my Chaco's after a dive. I wear Chaco's everywhere. I can wear them all day without any discomfort whatsoever...even if I walk for miles and miles. Hands down, these are the best flip flops I've ever had. I refuse to wear any other brand.
Absolutely Love 'Em
I'm an ocean lifeguard in California, and it seems as though everyone I work with raves about the typical "surfer flipflops" such as reef, rainbow, and the like. I've tried Chaco...and I'm never going back! I can wear these flip flops to the movies with friends, to the pool at the gym, to work in an office, and I can even run in them (which is a big deal for lifeguards). These shoes have saved my feet from the usual seasonal strain of running barefoot everywhere on hot sand and pavement. Great great shoes!
The best flips ever!
I'm finally getting another pair of these flip flops. It's not that the first pair have worn out even though I've worn them in the lake over the past 5 years, hiked over dirty trails in them; I've thrown them in the washing machine a few times and they still look like new. I'm getting a new pair simply because I like the blue/turquoise strap and I have money for a new pair. I have flat feet and the arch support in these Chacos keep my feet from feeling cramped and tired. They're the best!
