Comments about Asolo Stynger GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
My husband and I summited Kilimanjaro last fall. We both wore Asolo's with minimal wear (less than 6 hours of hiking) prior to our 6 day African trek. From 85 degree temperatures to well below freezing (constant winds of 70 mph on our climb to the summit) these boots held fast. Our feet remained warm and dry. We had no rubs, nor any blisters on our 55 mile journey. I am hopeful that Asolo will come out with a very light day hiker of equal quality.

Comments about Asolo Stynger GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
I purchased these boots for my Philmont trip and I never regretted it!! Best money I ever spent!
I hiked 75 miles and was the ONLY one out of 11 of us, with not even a hint of a blister! They are so comfortable and absolutely water proof. They are light weight and colorful too. I also have weak ankles, so the support was awesome. I have a small foot(size 6) with low volume and they fit perfect. I might buy another pair soon, for future use, in case they discontinue them. I would never buy anything else!

Comments about Asolo Stynger GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
My first pair of hiking boots and used them for a backcountry backpacking trip in Alaska. I hiked for a week and never once got a blister, hot spot or any complaints. Most everyone in my trip coincidentially also had Asolos as their hiking boot.
And during a water crossing I was trying too catch my balance and inadvertantly left my boot submerged for a much longer period of time than had hoped for and was surprised how little water I took on inside and how long it took to get wet. I'm told that this waterproofing will lose its value over time though.
Anyhow, great boots for my first pair. I had anticipated breaking these in before my trip and did several hikes beforehand but honestly, this has zero breakin period required.
Sure the boots felt a bit heavy only because I've never worn anything but tennis shoes hiking prior too. But honestly, these boots felt like an extention of my foot and didn't feel heavy or cluncky while backcountry hiking. Also, it was great in most of the uneven terrain that I was going through. Never felt any rocks or aggitation with the terrain.

Comments about Asolo Stynger GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
These are a great pair of hiking boots! I was warned when I bought them that they would require numerous miles of wear before breaking in, however, I did a very strenuous hike in them after only about 10 miles of wear and found they were quite fine. They are a bit heavy (which is normal for a durable hiking boot) but not too bulky. The GoreTex lining is also a plus in deep snow, though I would not recommend them in extremely wet conditions. Asolo created a wonderful boot for beginner and experienced outdoor enthusiasts!

Comments about Asolo Stynger GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
The Stynger is an excellent hiking boot, good for backpacking and day hikes. They are comfortable, keep your ankles stable and very lightweight considering how sturdy they are.
I wore these in the Amazon for two weeks and was impressed that they were waterproof but not very hot and they felt very lightweight compared to other boots I've owned.
The only drawback with these boots is that they are very slippery on wet surfaces, espeically rock, boat decks and concrete. They are so slippery in fact, I wonder how a tester didn't notice that feature when they were making these.
Still, for most uses, they are great.

Comments about Asolo Stynger GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
I am torn about these boots; I absolutely love them, but the glue on the soles just doesn't hold up to desert heat. I used my first pair for over a year doing fieldwork in the sage flats and mountains of Wyoming, and in the Boundary Waters on the MN/Canada border. The soles wear quickly, but otherwise the boots were perfect and I was smitten. After only a month this summer of desert field work in the Sonoran, however, the toes of the soles peeled off. I was crushed, but REI replaced them with a new pair. Only two weeks later, the soles of the new ones were already peeling off.
These boots are awesome if you don't plan on frequently hiking in triple-digit dry heat, but I'm going to have to send them back to REI again, this time for boots with more heat-tolerant glue. I never know where my job will take me, so I need boots I can trust in all conditions. It is difficult finding boots that can truly handle grueling hikes all day every day, but these Asolos come close.
Service and delivery comments:
REI replaced the first pair of Styngers, no questions asked, which I was very thankful for. I'm not sure they'll be so happy about me returning a second pair, though, especially since I'm going to have them special order some Scarpa Mustangs to replace the Asolos.

These are by far the best boots I've purchased. My husband bought a pair on an REI employee's recommendation and he loved them so much I had to buy a pair. They fit very comfortably and broke in very quickly. I have a VERY small foot and found the smallest size they made (ladies 6) was "just right" for me.
I would recommend these to anyone who does a lot of hiking and is actively involved in Boy Scouts!
Just a small draw-back and I hate to blame this on the boots -- I wore them outdoors when it rained darn near eight straight hours. The waterproofing pretty much gave out. I had to re-waterproof the boots. But they are just as good as new now.

With little break-in time and Smartwool socks these boots took me up Kilimanjaro and back again with NO blisters, hot spots or problems. I was amazed. I brought every type of moleskin, blister kit and pads, due to my sensitive feet, and I never used them.
My climbing partner had the same success!!
I did use "smartfeet" inserts too.

Comments about Asolo Stynger GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
I've had these boots for a few years now and still love them. I logged about 70 miles on the Coast to Coast last year in soaking English weather, and I never lost footing or got a blister. The special Asolo sole is much sticker than Vibram I think and has a little more give. They are supportive enough for backpacking, yet not super heavy. The only minor issues I've seen: insoles aren't super cushy (but they work well with Superfeet etc) and they do lose water-proofness after a while. Very durable otherwise though. Best boot I've owned (my husband has a pair too and agrees!)

It's been hard to find decent boots since I have a wide foot and not only did they break in easily, they fit very well too. I hike and climb in them on a weekly basis in all types of weather. They're holding up pretty nicely.
