Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Bod Harness:
I give it 5 stars, but it is highly specialized for specific uses. If you are new, DO NOT GET THIS HARNESS. I've been climbing for 10+ years and use 3 different kind of harness' regularly. One for Big Wall climbing, a different one for Trad, sport, and ice climbing, and then this one for the rest. This harness should be used if 95% of your time is spent walking on the ground, trecking, glacier hiking, scrambeling, and alpine mountaineering. As you can see there is NO Padding. Which isn't needed because you shouldn't be hanging in it for more than a few minutes. If your spending more time on vertical terrain (rock or ice), you will want something with some cussion.
I love it! It's light, inexpencive, hikes well, fits over big clothes, and is simple. The last thing I'd want to do is take a big fall in it. The little support would cut you in half. Big vertical falls and even several rappels are doable, but not ideal for this harness.
I think folks see the low sticker price and buy with out knowing what they are getting.

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Bod Harness:
I bought this harness for an introductory climbing class last year, where I used it for gym, trad climbing and glaciers. It's easy to adjust, fits over layers, works great for everything except hanging in it. It's a minimalist harness and not designed to support your weight comfortably for long periods, and if not properly adjusted the crotch loop can bind up painfully. Since you don't know it's there until you need it, I'll continue using it for alpine climbing, but have picked up a padded harness one for sport and gym climbing.

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Bod Harness:
Love this Harness, great for the minimalist who doesn’t care about luxury features on a harness. Although your friends will be jealous when nature calls and all you have to do is unclip you leg straps. Very convenient and compact, I’ve used it on multiple occasions for everything from rock climbing to Alpinism.

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Bod Harness:
This harness is all business. No padding of any sort, but it's safe, reliable, and durable. Plus, it's a breeze to get in and out of and has adjustable/buckled leg loops for when you REALLY wanna get OUT of the thing. Recommended.

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Bod Harness:
Great harness for someone who's just getting started. Its low cost does not detract from how reliable it is for a climbing harness.

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Bod Harness:
This harness is as safe as they come, absolutely strait forward in design, and absolutely bomb proof. I have fallen off rock and into glaciers without even having to second guess its security. It does get uncomfortable when hanging around for too long, but when hanging over a bottomless cravasse I don't get too concerned about comfort between my legs.

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Bod Harness:
Love this harness, got one for my wife too. It is easy to put on over clothing, especially when mountaineering and having to wear the harness over a base layer and insulated pants. It is light and folds up very small, takes up very little space in my pack. Durable, easy to clean (which is needed after wearing it in a mine), and comfortable as long as you don't have to hang in it for long.
On the downside, the groin strap has to be adjusted properly or it really hurts when you fall or hang on the harness, and the waist strap seems to stretch a little after a year of use( and I mean every weekend use!)
Other than that, great harness and I highly recommend it for alpine climbing or anywhere you have to backpack before climbing.

Great harnes that was recomended to me. I used it for glaciers and it was easy to put on over layers and the leg staps make it even more perfect for glacier travel. Like already stated its meant for business.

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Bod Harness:
I bought this harness in a small for my 10 year old son. It is very easy to put on. The down-side of the harness is the lack of any padding. It will not be comfortable for long belays while hanging on a wall. Overall a good harness for the money.

Comments about Black Diamond Alpine Bod Harness:
This harness is not intended for hanging in, it is uncomfortable for hanging belays or working sport/gym routes (it will crush your [*]). But for alpine climbs - awesome: lightweight, simple, packs small and the price is right. Durable also, I have had mine for 7 or 8 years now.Get Momentum for the other applications.
