Comments about Sea to Summit Silk Travel Sleeping Bag Liner - Traveler:

This rectangular travel liner is much more sturdy that its mummy counterpart, and keeps me warm.

      Service and delivery comments:

I bought this Travel liner after I returned a mummy sac from the same brand that had broken at the seam. REI service was great and I'm very satisfied with this product.

Comments about Sea to Summit Silk Travel Sleeping Bag Liner - Traveler:

My biggest problem thus far with the product is just the way it's packed. It's always an annoyance for me to pack the sack back into it's zip-up bag: it's rather tricky to zip it up while trying to keep the material from getting caught in the zipper, which inevitably happens a few times anyway. A stuff sack would have made things much easier, and I'll eventually switch to one when I find the right size.

My other problem with the product is that the material seems that it's going to rip along the seams. Indeed, small holes have already begun to develop there despite my having taken some care as the seams looked weak to begin with.

Other than that, the product works well, but I think if I had to buy another travel sack, I'd check other brands first.

Comments about Sea to Summit Silk Travel Sleeping Bag Liner - Traveler:

This is a great comfort when camping in rough conditions. It adds approximately 10 degrees of warmth to sleeping bags, and also comes in handy as a light sleeping sheet in warm conditions. I took this while camping in the Peruvian Amazon, and it was a nice cool layer between me and damp/humid sheets. Since it is is 100% silk, it is thin and torn a little at the seams when stressed.

Comments about Sea to Summit Silk Travel Sleeping Bag Liner - Traveler:

Used for the last three weeks as a sleeping bag liner while staying on a friend's boat. It's super light, compressible and does indeed provide added warmth. This liner would be terrific for backpacking, too if it held up, which it does not. Construction is cheap. I already have small tears at the entry point seams on both sides. And trying to locate the entry point in the dark when crawling back into bed after a nature break is an exercise in frustration. If I want to keep this liner much longer I'll have to have the entry point seams reinforced. That means spending even more money on an item that was expensive in the first place.

Comments about Sea to Summit Silk Travel Sleeping Bag Liner - Traveler:

I have an older Sea To Summit Travel Liner, one without the pillow holder. I really like it a lot, it is well made and quite warm. So I thought this version would be the same, only with the additional pillow case. I was wrong. This one is quite different in the quality of construction - the silk is very much thinner, for one thing, and it feels more fragile. Also the sewing on the hems is not reinforced at the stress points - particularly where the top opening flap connects to the bottom, the place where all the stress will be applied when you are getting into and out of the bag. I can see that this will fail fairly quickly already. And the edges of the material above the main sack, connecting it to the pillow case, do not have a hem. They are just cut, so you have the bare edge of the material. This seems sloppy and cheap to me. I know the silk is supposed to be ripstop, but not hemming edges just seems unprofessional. Finally, my older liner just seems a lot warmer. The silk feels thicker and stronger. This new one feels colder. I confirmed this by sleeping on the couch two successive nights, with identical fleece blankets and switching the two liners. The old one is warmer. So I guess the new one will be good for summer. I took a look at the labels, and something struck me - the older one was made in Australia, whereas the new one comes from China. It seems that everything is getting shifted to be made in China now, and when it happens the quality seems to plummet.

I will probably take this liner to a tailor or seamstress to get them to reinforce the stitching at the stress points, and properly hem the edge of the material. The one good thing I can see about this new liner is that it is very lightweight. But if you're looking for something that will put up with the rigors of a long trip, you may want to look elsewhere. It seems that Sea To Summit has gone downhill in terms of quality somewhere over the last few years.

I have had this for 8 years and just love it. I rarely leave on a trip without it. Gives me just that extra touch luxury I need when out on a trip for over a months time. I even use it in the summer when I'm too lazy to wash my bed sheets.

Comments about Sea to Summit Silk Travel Sleeping Bag Liner - Traveler:

This product is great for what it is intended for. It is "hostel compliant" as far as being a sleep liner sheet, but also, traveling around the world on a budget, I find myself (often) preferring NOT to trust the hotel bedding and just making my own little comfortable sleep area. It sounds paranoid, I know, but if you ever saw that 60 Minutes expose where they sent forensic experts to take samples, swabs and black light examination of a dozen "top" hotels in the US and what they found (!!!).... ewww. The travel liner sets my mind at ease since no part of my body has to touch the bedding. But wait, that's not all... LOL... it makes a luxurious soft sleeping bag liner when camping and a comfortable "light" bag and cover up when sleeping on trains, planes, and airports. Of all the materials available for a liner (cotton, Coolmax, silk), silk is the best IMO if you can afford it because not only is it the thinnest and lightest, but it is also strong and insulative (adding 10 degs F to any bag that you add it to). The integrated pillow pouch is an excellent idea! The pillow stays put because it is attached, and you can use just about anything in your luggage as a pillow (like a Polartec jacket). It is easy to wash. It has a generous length... but honestly, I would prefer just a bit more width as I always felt a bit "confined". This is what led me to the modification which made it better for me. I opened up one side of the "bag" and installed a zipper that goes halfway down (which made it more roomy). The zipper has a contrasting colour tape which makes the "opening" much easier to find in the dark. I like that it rolls up into this tiny little ditty bag and barely takes any space and yet it adds so much comfort, value, and utility to my travels. I highly recommend it.

Comments about Sea to Summit Silk Travel Sleeping Bag Liner - Traveler:

I only needed to use this sleep sheet a few times on my 4 month trip through SE Asia, but those few times were definitely worth it! I used it on an overnight train and a few dodgy hostels and hotels.

My only complaint is that it's a little claustrophobic feeling, since it's so slim, (and I'm only 5' 3" and 120lbs).
