Comments about Giro Xen Bike Helmet:
Although not marketed as a road helmet, the Giro XEN is excellent for road use (and commuting). Aside from good features and excellent fit/sizing parameters, the helmet has a more rounded external shell and lacks those lame 'swoopy' scallops at the rear that bike helmet manufacturers think make a helmet less 'dorky' looking (sorry, those scallops ARE definitely dorky, IMHO!). A rounded shell is important in that rounded shells do not catch the pavement during falls, thereby helping avoid severe neck hyperextension injuries (bad news!...read: broken neck = quadriplegia!).I've used mine continuously for over 4 years now and it still fits perfectly. It would be nice to have some bright (high-viz) colors available, since being seen has high survivability value. As a professional life support specialist with extensive knowledge of military cranial protective helmets, I would highly recommend this helmet to anyone seriously concerned with protecting their head on a road bike against blunt and oblique trauma. Rounded external shell helmets are safer helmets for bicucle use; this one comes as close to having all the basic safety features desired as any available bike helmet that I am aware of. Kudos to GIRO for the XEN!

Comments about Giro Xen Bike Helmet:
The Xen did all right by me. Used it for a year as a daily commuter helmet. I found the venting good enough for warm weather and weekend rides. The fitting system made for easy adjustment to comfortable fits with liners or caps in the cooler/wet months.
Most importantly, the Xen took one for Team Striddy, absorbing most of a full speed pavement impact, cracking in 3 places but leaving my dome shaken but intact. Great all-arounder.

Comments about Giro Xen Bike Helmet:
I grew up on bikes: BMX, freestyle, mountain biking. This is the first helmet I've ever owned. My 2 year old son asked me the other day as we were heading out and I was putting on his helmet "Dada, where is your helmet?" I knew that it was time to suck it up, but I made a good choice with the Xen. I often forget that I even have it on which I guess would be an indication of how light and comfortable the helmet is. The fit is pretty good... I have an odd shaped melon. I was hoping that my LBS would have one to try on to be sure, but no luck there. I took a gamble and it paid off. If I were to have one complaint (and I don't know if this is true for all helmets) is that the air-vents direct wind directly into my ears so I get noticeable wind noise. No big deal, just kind of weird. My son loves my new helmet and now we can be safe together!

Comments about Giro Xen Bike Helmet:
Let's start by saying that I have a very large head. I can hardly find anything that fits on it; needless to say it's search and challenge to find a bike helmet that fits me.
I was hoping to spend less money, but the Xen is the most comfortable helmet I have ever worn.
The head harness is comfortable and easily adjustable
No abrasive, pain causing, or uncomfortable surfaces come into contact with you, the rider, while wearing it.
Nothing but plush lightweight Giro love
(must resist urge to make Zen pun)

Comments about Giro Xen Bike Helmet:
it was head and shoulders above about every other helmet i tried on. it's light weight. it's comfortable. about the only complaint i would have is the back-of-head adjustment isn't as nice as the dial on other helmets i tried on; but it's an adjustment that's set the first time you put it on and there's no need to mess with it again (unless your head changes size). i commute every day to work as well as do some single track from time to time. i have loved it. i've had it for ~6 months, but haven't had the chance to test it out in any crashes (thankfully), so i couldn't speak of its protection.

Comments about Giro Xen Bike Helmet:
I've used this helmet for three years now and love it. I've used it so much I am about to put a new liner in as I have about worn the old one out. Not a bad comment just a comment on how much use mine gets. I wear this helmet in summer and winter. When cold I wear a balaclava or head wrap underneath. I have used it in sub freezing to near 100 degree heat. Mine is black and even in the heat it vents well enough for me to not overheat. The only reason it didnt get 5 stars is I have yet to hit my head on anything to test it.

Comments about Giro Xen Bike Helmet:
I have been riding this helmet for 3 years now. It has been solid. Liner pad is just starting to show signs of serious wear. The extra coverage is nice on the back of the helmet. Giro seems to fit my large head well in both bike applications and skiing. Only downside is that I found this helmet wasn't the best for road riding with extra coverage and even though the visor is removable I didn't trust doing it all the time.

Comments about Giro Xen Bike Helmet:
Have had this helmet for a few years now and like the the design. Good mtn helmet with decent ventilation. Visor is adjustable and securely mounted. Backed by Giro's replacement program which is nice. Easy to adjust and the retention system keeps the helmet in place even on the wildest of trails.

Comments about Giro Xen Bike Helmet:
My sister and I were looking for bike helmets and tried almost everyone on at REI Denver. The Zen fit the best for both of us. We are adventure racers and usually have to wear your bike helmet all day long.
A women was at the bike helmet display when we had tried on several. I said save your time this is the best one. she told me that she knew that all of the helmets had to meet the same safty standards. I said sure but not all of them have to meet the same comfort standard,
