Good puncture resistence but at a price?

By JR97

Comments about Slime 700c Tire Liners - Twin Pack:

I commuted 3-4 days a week for 5 weeks with only 2 flats. AND THEN I added the slime tire liners and I've experiences 1-2 flats a day. They seem puncture resistant enough. But for whatever reason, I'm constantly getting pinch flats now. Maybe the extra space they use is forcing the tube against the rim. Either way, I'm ditching them for now.

    causes flats :(

Comments about Slime 700c Tire Liners - Twin Pack:

They do protect against flats from road junk, but for me they *cause* flats in two ways: either the side edge or the cut end of the liner itself will rub a holes into the tube. The side edge rubbing may be exacerbated by lower tire pressure.

I had similar problems with the Mr. Tuffy brand liners, and successfully protected against the cut-end type flats they would produce with an extra piece of old tube layered in, but the side edge of the Slime brand is less pliable and perhaps not as tapered.

Either way, too much hassle for me. Another commuter recommended the super-thick-treaded Panaracer tires as great flat protection. Definitely more expensive, but being late for work due to flats costs $$ too.
