Comments about MSR SweetWater Purifier Solution - 2oz.:
This product does exactly what it is supposed to do, kill all the viruses and bacteria in the water. Unfortunately, it is on the expensive side for what you get. If you went to the grocery store to buy this product, you would expect to spend 5 to 10 cents for a bottle this size, except you already have it at home in your laundry room. Sodium Hypochlorite, the active ingredient in SweetWater, is just common bleach.
So, SweetWater is a good product in that it works as advertised, but when you run out, you can just refill the bottle with bleach from home and use it the same way. Of course, with the MSR product you know you are getting something that is not contaminated and you know you are getting something from a quality company that stands behind its products.

Comments about MSR SweetWater Purifier Solution - 2oz.:
Aside from the taste, (which is still totally tolerable) I don't see much wrong with this product. I've been using it for years and have never gotten sick. Unlike my friends who have not used it have gotten quite ill. Yea, you have to carry more than you need but, for me that's hardly an issue if it prevents me from getting sick in the woods.

Comments about MSR SweetWater Purifier Solution - 2oz.:
The bottle is too large for backpacking: 1-3/8" diameter, 4-3/8" tall. It's too heavy (3 oz). Why would I want to carry enough chlorine to treat 80 gallons of water?
Since I typically need to treat 3 liters, I don't want to carry all that extra weight and cubes.
This should be repackaged in a more convient size. Either single serving (3 liter) ampules or add a chlorine proof 1/8 ounce refillable bottle to the 2oz package.

Comments about MSR SweetWater Purifier Solution - 2oz.:
After getting sick from filtering water downstream from a pasture, I bought some sweetwater. I haven't gotten sick since. Good insurance against waterborne viruses.

Comments about MSR SweetWater Purifier Solution - 2oz.:
As others have noted this is basically a bleach solution. That said it is made for treating water and I feel I don't have to worry about having some thing 'extra' in it that might hurt me. It is expensive, but I believe it's worth it. MSR is probably making a killing on it, but oh well it works.
As for taste, I don't believe it effects taste too much. It does add that chlorine smell which I don't like, but can live with it if it means I won't have a bathroom emergency.
Happy Trails!
Service and delivery comments:
Bought in store. I'm a little disappointed in the selection and stocking of product at my local REI.

Comments about MSR SweetWater Purifier Solution - 2oz.:
The only active ingrediant in this product is 3.5% sodium hypochlorite. This is common household bleach. This product is a little expensive for household bleach. I generally love MSR products. I have used their SweetWater filter for years and am very happy with it, but to kill virus' I am now using household bleach.
