by fromToo Big for small feet If you have a small foot and it is narrow, don't get these socks. Size says 4-6 in Women's but they are huge. the seam on top is irritating it ends up instead of being on top of my toe at my toe. Will be returning these. No ankle support either because its too darn big.

by fromLost shape after wearing I wear size 12-13 boots and bought the large size expedition socks. They initially felt tight after putting them on. However, after a short hike, they began to feel loose and started to bunch-up. After arriving back home and walking around with just the socks on, they totally lost all shape and became way too large for my feet. I don't think there was any elastic material in the socks. I will be returning them today.

by fromWore only twice and began to unravel Have [@] wool socks that have lasted centuries. Sorry to say these REI heavy duty socks began to unravel after wearing only two times. I am going back to the all wool. I think the combination yarn is a problem at wear points. Sorry I cannot recommed these.

by fromComfy but Not Warm The socks are great construction, but they just don't hold warmth for any amount of time. It is 50 degrees today where I live in California so I put on these socks to wear to school. Even sitting here indoors, my feet are cold and my toes are bitter cold, with that painful pre-numbing feeling. I highly recommend something like Smart Wool for any wooly needs.

by fromNot what they used to be I bought 3 pair of these about a month ago, and am disappointed with them. I have been wearing the REI Expedition socks for several years now, and have always felt they were the best heavy weight socks on the market. REI has evidently changed their source for these socks since the last time I had purchased any, and they are not as heavy and fluffy as they used to be. I think they are probably still the heaviest merino wool socks on the market, but I'm not as happy with the new version as the old version. I'm getting to the age when the layer of fat on the bottom of my feet is starting to go away, and these socks help make up the cushion the fat layer is no longer providing.

by fromThick sock, but runs large These socks are warm, thick, comfortable, and feel well made. However, I wish I would have ordered a size smaller since they are too loose and slide down on my feet. I always buy size medium for hiking socks, but these felt more like a large. Since they were a bit big I've been mostly wearing them over another pair of sock inside winter boots.

by fromWarm, and plenty thick, Took 2 pair out on a 4 day back pack trip.. No blisters. They seem to wick moisture well, all around good packing sock.
