Comments about Mountain House Ice Cream Sandwich - Single Serving:
This is OK as a novelty...nice treat for kids on a camp-out or something. Its essentially a low-end ice-cream sandwich that even still has the paper on it like the ones you'd pull out of a Mayfield value pack. Mine tasted freezer burnt and was crunchier that I'd expect...but again, it was a fun treat to break the norm.

Very tasty and looks exactly like the frozen ones in the stores, even comes wrapped in white paper. Tastes exactly the same but it takes a minute to get over the look and feel.

That's what everyone asks me when I tell them what I had for desert! LOL!!! The taste good too, especially with a cup of coffee.

Tastes just like an ice cream sandwich. Texture is a little bizarre, but it's really good!

This freeze dried ice cream bar is actually pretty good. Of course it's not cold, and it's dry, but the taste is pretty good. You can tell it's made with real ice cream.

This is a good quick source of food for an after dinner snack or trail snack. It surprised me with how closely it resembled the test of real ice cream. It is very crumbly and breaks easily while traveling; however, the crumbs are just as good. Texture is a little weird at first (kind of like Styrofoam).

I bought one and ate it in my kitchen for a snack. That's not really a fair test. A real test is to try it on the trail in the wild. So I'll write another review once I've done that. I love Carnation ice cream sandwiches and this looks, feels, and tastes like one. Tastes pretty good, but the sensation of eating it is very strange. The packaging weighs more than the sammich...this is a cool snack, but I think I'm more likely to pack an Almond Joy, or maybe M&Ms.

I tied this before I was going to backpack with my 8 year old daughter - she loves ice cream. "This doesn't taste like ice cream; even if you imagine it's cold it doesn't". After she told me that, it was my turn to try. Beside the fact that it looks like a stale piece of meringue it also tastes like it. I can also imagine that if you transport this in your pack for more than a few hours in rough terrain, all you will find inside the pouch is broken pieces and crumbs.

If you don't like freeze dried ice cream don't buy this item. We love them!! I would recommend breaking off small chunks and let them melt in your mouth. If you like the feeling of biting chalk then go ahead and eat it like a real ice cream sandwich.
