Comments about SmartWool Hiking Socks:
I have purchased several pairs of SmartWool socks from heavyweight to lightweight over the years. They feel good at first, but they all wore out very quickly on the back of the hill and on the bottom. The sub thread weave cuts into your feet and is very uncomfortable. I had about 7 or 8 pairs that I have not figured out what to do with. The REI brand socks are a much better value for the money. I will never purchase SmartWool socks again, they are just not a good value.

Comments about SmartWool Hiking Socks:
They don't seem to sell my mini-crew black/red version anymore (the hiking mid mini on the smartwool website is the closest I could find), but I felt this the best alternative for my review. I've owned my pair for about 2 years, and they have seen hundreds of miles (including 2 backpacking trips). They are still in excellent shape, and are the most comfortable socks I own. They are so much better than the REI brand merino wool socks that give me blisters. I will buy another pair of smartwool's if I ever need a backup pair or when these finally wear out (which I don't see happening any time soon). Pricey, but worth it!

Comments about SmartWool Hiking Socks:
These socks are expensive but are worth it. They wick moisture well and prevent trip destroying blisters. Combined with a thin liner sock you can't go wrong no matter how for you hike.

on other trips i have had to throw away cotton socks due to stench. you can wear boots for 14+hrs and they won't bring tears to everybody's eyes in the tent or room.i own 10 pair of these and love them! highly recommended.

Comments about SmartWool Hiking Socks:
Without doubt smart wool makes the best socks. I bought these for firefighting and wasn't disappointed. They fit snug and last numerous days before needing to be changed. I have tried REI brand and Danner and these are the best.

I've owned a pair of these socks for a short time now, and they are some of my best socks! They are comfortable and reliable, durable material and nice design. Enjoy

Good sock for hiking. Pricey but the quality of the sock is evident. The heel of the sock will be the first to wear out.

Comments about SmartWool Hiking Socks:
Smartwool is the only brand of socks that I use, from hiking to backpacking to everyday use. For me there are no better socks than Smartwool.

Comments about SmartWool Hiking Socks:
Last year I bought three pairs of size medium socks at the same time. After I opened the packages I discovered that the three pairs were very different in actual size. Two pairs were so big that I took them back and exchanged them for size medium socks that were smaller than the ones I originally purchased. I emailed Smartwool and recommended that they do better with size consistency from one pair to the next.
I do find the socks to be quite comfortable for hiking.
