REI Members get back an estimated $ 2.50 on this item as part of their annual member refund.

    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

    • Dual purpose handle/lid lock flips up and over the fitted lid to securely lock the lid in place during transport
    • Includes fitted lid with its own top handle
    • Scratch and dent resistant stainless steel stands up in the most rugged conditions
    • Rounded corners help heat travel up sides of pot more quickly, boosting efficiency

Tip: Your MSR pots will be even more efficient if you allow them to blacken with use. That's because a blackened surface absorbs heat better than a light one.

    MSR Stowaway Pot - 1600ml.is rated4.5out of5by6.
Rated5out of5byfromAwesome, when nested w/1.5 s.s. potAwesome pot, especially when nested together with 1.5 l s.s. pot and nylon mesh stuffsack from MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set, and REI cheap (but hardy) alum. pot gripper (Clamp handle #3475-5385). Stowaway pot is tough s.s., which can be scrubbed w/anything, even sand from the beach. Is wider, as opposed to deeper, making it easy to fry inside bottom of pot, has long, folding non-coated handle, making it perfect for use on campfire and the handle's clamps hold the lid on like a vise, keeping any contents secure during transport. But, it doesn't come w/stuffsack, nor do the smaller Stowaway pots nest well inside it, due to their clamping mechanisms on their sides. My ultimate goal: a tough, 2 pot nesting kit for 2 person kayak camping, which would be small enough to fit well in kayak, and hold and secure my MSR WhisperLite stove. Preferably usable on campfire. I tried and returned (gotta love REI) several nesting cookware kits, including non-stick. But these can't be used on campfire and merely nesting non-stick pots without keeping them separated with towels, etc. will start wearing down coating and most pot grippers will damage coating. Titanium was out due to cost, uneven cooking and food sticks so its tough to clean. MSR's Alpine 2 Pot Set in s.s. came closest to my needs. The 1.5 l s.s. pot fits the Whisperlite perfectly, but the 2 l pot was a little big and while nested, the whole thing rattled, with nothing holding the lid on and keeping the contents in but the nylon stuffsack. Also, the pot gripping tabs on the alum. pot gripper sold w/Alpine set started bending the moment I squeezed it. This gripper is way too lightweight and won't hold up. Solution: I nested the 1.5 l s.s. Alpine pot inside the 1.6 l Stowaway. Perfect fit! I then bought the dirt cheap, REI alum. pot gripper noted above. This gripper is plenty strong, although it is not the most comfortable in your hand. It will grip the Alpine pot and the Stowaway's lid fine. For the price, its perfect. The Stowaway clamping handle keeps everything together and I use the stuffsack from the Alpine set to keep everything clean. MSR Whisperlite stove, scrubbing sponges, lighter, towels, salt/pepper, etc. round out the kit. I used my $20 bonus card on the Stowaway and got it cheap. I know it is not for the ultra-lights, but this makes the PERFECT s.s. kit-see pics. HEY MSR, if you're listening, I love your products. But start selling the 1.6 l Stowaway as a kit w/1.5 l s.s. Alpine pot, good pot gripper and stuffsack that doubles as a sink and you will have a real winner.

Rated4out of5byfromMade my own nesting camp kitchen! This thing is a classic, and now I know why. None of the nesting cooksets have a nice stainless pot you can cook with over a fire, so I picked up this bad boy and voila! Put a couple of MSR small deepdish plates on the inside, little spice, soap and oil containers, a copper scrubby, some MicroBites utensils, and a small towel, lighter, and there it is! Tiny camp kitchen that locks itself up and you can throw off a cliff, then go down and get it and cook yourself something with it.

Rated5out of5byfromPerfect PotThis pot is everything you need it to be. The lid works as a plate, the pot boils water or is large enough diameter for frying and everything stays right inside. I use a supercat stove and everything I need fits right inside. Stove, snuff-out can, wind screen, fork, spatula, alcohol bottle, lighter, and scouring pad for cleaning all store right inside and lock securely.

Rated3out of5byfromOnly One ProblemI've owned this pot for years, but never use it because its diameter makes pouring problematical. My ideal 6-cup pot has a 6" diameter, making non-spill pouring easy.

Rated5out of5byfromGREAT POT FOR THE MONEYI bought this pot 10 years ago and use it every time I backpack (atleast twice a month). I see a lot of "cons" from people saying this pot is heavy, yes, it is heavy when you are comparing it to titanium. "Heavy" just means well constructed. To clean it after a meal, I simply toss in a hand full of gravel with some water, close and lock the lid, and shake vigorously. I have cooked over camp fires and gas stoves. It also works great for storage; this is what I store in my pot: one large cup, one MSR dragonfly stove, two large spoons, salt and pepper shaker, match container, and toothpick container. This is my oldest and favorite piece of camping equipment.

Rated5out of5byfromIt does fit a dragonfly MSR stoveI bought this to neatly contain and protect my Dragonfly MSR stove, not including fuel bottle. It has plenty of leftover room for a lighter, pepper and salt, small rag, the bottom and side aluminum shields and little tools that come with it. The pot is big enough for morning tea and enough to fill my 1 liter Thermos with more tea (motorcycle camping solo or two up).
