Comments about BlueWater Assaultline 7/16'' Static Rope:

This is a solid workhorse rope. I've got a couple and have used them for lots of top rope use, rappelling into caves, group rappelling use and anchoring rope for climbing as well as highlines and the occasional zip line or slack rope.

Overall, it's a fairly versital rope. It handles a lot of abrasion before it begins showing signs. It's low elasticity is great for typical static rope use and these things seem to last forever.

The downside of it's durability is weight and thickness. There are certainly lighter and smoother feeding ropes out there. If however you are looking for something to take abusive work and are willing to accept the trade offs of more difficult handling and more weight to haul around it can be a valuable asset.

Comments about BlueWater Assaultline 7/16'' Static Rope:

I have used this rope for recreational rappelling for about 10 years (on a single rope). I was very surprised that the rope would have lasted as long as it did considering the use and wear that I have placed on it.

This is an excellent rope, and the fact it is still availble after at least 10 years should in itself speaks volumes about its worth.

Wrapping the rope in a commercially available protective sheath, will definitely extend the life and help with abrasion.

I have recommended this rope to anyone I know entering rappelling.

Comments about BlueWater Assaultline 7/16'' Static Rope:

I use the Assaultline for high-angle work in my county's search and rescue unit. I've been very disappointed with this rope because it doesn't hold up the rigors of heavy loads like it should. When I'm not doing pick-offs and hauling litters up El Cap, I'm usually using it for recreational rappelling in open-pit (abandoned mining) environments. I've had to pay special attention to my speed as I descend - the core burns easily and I've been forced to retire this rope because of the abnormalities after less than twelve (12) months of service. I would not purchase this line again. I would only recommend this to someone making a highline or a zipline for a few trips, but that's all it's good for. Do not second-guess whether or not this could save your life, it will disappoint.
