Comments about Adventure Medical SAM Splint:
I put this splint on a friend's ankle, and she walked out four miles over rough terrain. The splint was toast after that, but her ankle healed nicely!
The padding is great for wilderness applications.

Comments about Adventure Medical SAM Splint:
I fell during a hike in the Shenandoah and badly hurt my wrist. I didn't have anything to support it with, so I had to suffer through the rest of the hike. From now on I'm always carring one with me. Even if it won't tuck away in your first aid kit, carry one with you, you'll never know when you might need it. They offer more support than the wire mesh splints do. The 36 in. is big enough to splint a leg or immobilize an elbow. There are also smaller sizes avaiable for other extremities like wrists and fingers. Instructions are printed on the splint. Simply bend to shape and tape or wrap into place. Bend it back flat again to reuse.

Comments about Adventure Medical SAM Splint:
I have used SAM splints several times and they have always performed higher then my expectations! they can be used to splint just about any body part that requires immobilization, they are comfortable compared to other splinting materials, and they are extremely lightweight! The entire SAM splint product line is top notch. One of the greatest First Aid supplies out there for this purpose!

As a qualified walking group leader and trained mountain guide i carry one of these in my group first aid kit when taking groups into the mountains. Yes i could improvise but it weighs little and gives me peace of mind.
