Had to process a lot of wood for a winter backpacking trip in the rain and snow. Had to decide between the trusty old hatchet and picking up a saw. so glad i went with the saw. made getting through the 5-8 inch wide branches a breeze. much less dangerous than swinging a hatchet while cold, wet and tired. a must have!! i will never backpack or camp without it.

Bought one of these for my brother quite a few years ago and just recently picked one up for myself. Took it on a weekend camping trip and used it to make short work of our found firewood! Perhaps not the lightest tool around, but lighter than a hatchet, and far less dangerous when you're getting tired (no errant swings to sever your leg or something). Folds up nice, neat, and safe, and, from what my brother and others have said, remains sharp for quite a long time, even with minor rust spots along the blade. The Sven Saw is (relatively) light and reliable and I'm not sure why I waited so long to buy my own.

I've used this saw for 3 years on countless camping, motorcycle, backpacking and Jeep trips. So much more efficient than a hand axe for cutting slightly larger branches into firewood. Light enough and easily pack able for a multi-night backpacking trip and sturdy enough to clear fallen branches off a jeep trail. I am almost never without this saw and its become an essential piece of my kit. Just don't lose the wing nut that holds it together or it will be like trying to saw with a wet noodle.
Awesome saw. Get it.

This saw had no trouble cutting down 2in trees. It ate them up in less than a minute. Very sharp, seems rugged, but the grip isn't the most comfortable. For the compactness, the capabilities are very high.

Great saw! Easily assembled, and collapses into a nice small package. Sawed through several logs quickly and effortlessly. Far more efficient than a hatchet! My only qualm is that it doesn't come with a case of any sort. When the saw is collapsed, there are several sharp/pointy edges that could easily wear through a pack or whatever you're carrying it in. Otherwise very happy with this saw!
