This saw rocks, I bought it 3 years ago used it on 3 trips and the same blade is still rocking and sharp. I go with 10 guys each year in late October so a big warm fire at night is welcomed. Another hiker had the Gerber Folding Saw and the Sven saw made him say he should have left his at home. If you can afford the extra ounces in your pack, carry this saw with you and you will be happy you did.

If you're looking for the perfect camping saw, look no further!

This is lightweight, compact and works extremely well! The only (slight) drawback is it can be a little difficult to assemble but after doing it a few times you get the hang of it.

This easily cut through 6 - 8 inch SOLID red oak in seconds and with little effort.

Two words: BUY IT!

I purchase my saw back at EMS in NH at least 15 years ago. Granted, it isn't used every day, but I was just now looking to replace the blade. This saw rocks! Folds up to nothing, good to have in the vehicle, for hiking, trail work, and it even goes on our annual Christmas Tree harvest!

Very sharp, be careful! Make sure that the blade is seated down in the slots properly before tightening it. Tighten down good for a rigid saw. This baby cuts through wood like butter.

My father got one of these decades ago, and the design hasnt changed a bit (when you get it right the first time...). folds down to a compact tube, but strong when assembled. I have had this for a few years now, and not had to replace the blade yet. Only downside is that the edges of the blade bar are a bit sharp, and have torn through one of my bags when packed improperly (I know, my fault, but still worth mentioning). Still, would buy another one in a heartbeat

I don't go 4-wheeling or camping without one of these in my gear. I've used it several times to cut 'corduroys' when my car was stuck in the back woods. If I'm going into the back country this saw goes with me! It packs light, but un-folds into a very sturdy and sharp, watch the fingers, saw that quickly eats through wood to create fire wood, or removed fallen trees from the road.

Used this saw to cut 4- 6 to 8 inch thick logs (pine, birch) in the Adirondacks while there for a week. It made quick work of them for further splitting. The fold up/storage of the saw seemed a bit awkward or counter intuitive to me; and the recommended hand grip placement seemed uncomfortable. It has been a very good tool in the pack despite those drawbacks.

My friends and I enjoy relaxing by a good backcountry campfire after a long day of hiking. The problem before this saw was, we had to keep feeding small sticks into our fires in order to keep them burning. This is not very relaxing.

I added the Sven saw to my backpacking arsenal this year to remedy the situation and I could not be happier. The saw packs rather small and assembles in under 30 seconds once you get the hang of it. The handle location looks dangerous--until you begin to use it and realize how perfectly balanced it is. This saw cuts through 5" thick logs in a snap. We'll never have a wimpy backcountry campfire again.
