Cozy,comfy,dexterous, darn that velcro

I'm wearing them as I type this review; they're very comfy and seem quite cozy The picture doesn't reveal that the fingers are webbed/stitched together, so your fingers don't have the same dexterity as the Fox River Fingerless Ragg Gloves or the Fox River Gripper Gloves. You can still text on your phone and type on your laptop just fine. Also, the picture doesn't show that there is a black square of velcro on the back of the wrists and the back part of the mitten (at the fingertips). Even worse, the fuzzy-half of the velcro is on the back of your wrist and the scratcy/grabby-half is on the back of your mitten, so when you're using mitten-mode it's easy to snag on other clothing or objects. I removed the velcro by unpicking the stiches because the mittens seem to stay folded back well-enough by themselves. More often than not, I would like to use these as Mittens. Without the velcro, these are "Ace!" After removing the velcro, I am quite happy with these mitts. They do keep my hands warm, they are comfy, and they are breathable. If there's a lot of wind-chill, it would be wise to consider a mitten shell.

okay, but only if you remove the velcro

These mittens have velcro that holds the flap back when you take it off your fingers. However, the velcro is both ugly and inconvenient when using these as mittens. I found that when I had the mitten part on, thus exposing the velcro, everything I touched would stick in the velcro. I removed the velcro but this was difficult to do and I damaged the mittens in the process (then had to darn them to repair). I have extremely cold hands in winter even while indoors, so I use these at home to keep my hands warm while still enabling me to perform normal household tasks. They are great for this, but I would NOT wear them in public because they are really ugly, particularly with the velcro.

Velcro is a design flaw!

Warm and loving the hybrid glove/mitten design. Thick, strong wool that works as intended. The only reason this gets a 4/5 is because the Velcro used to fasten the mitten to the glove, when not in use, degrades very rapidly on both gloves making it difficult to keep the mittens from flopping around. It's very annoying when you take the mitten of to handle camp chores and the mittens starts flopping around on your hand. Also, stitching that connects the mitten part of my right-handed glove has come apart before one year use, not even a year but one season usage, not a big deal as a simple sewing job fixed this.

Great for photography or

I have owned a pair of these for many years. They've finally worn out, so I'm getting another. Even when wet, they keep my hands warm, warmer than an equivalent weight synthetic product, many pairs of which have disappointed. I do not mind the velcro...you need something to keep the mitt flap in place, and I'm not out on a fashion display. (That be said, they are a little ugly!). My chief complaint is that the wrist part needs to be about an inch longer so that a jacket can secure around it. They are pretty durable, but not intended for grasping rock, etc. Fitting-wise, the size chart indicates I should have a medium. The ones I own now are a small. They still work, but maybe the medium will ride farther up the wrist and allow for a thin liner inside.

Warm and useful.

I’ve wanted mittens with fingers for some time and these have been excellent. I wanted a pair with fingers so that I could open my gels and other stuff easier than regular gloves allow. These gloves are surprisingly warm and very comfortable. A little bonus is the slit thumb that allows all your fingers to be used. One slight caution is that they are a tight fit. Consider moving up a size if you have larger hands or fingers. They aren’t advertised as being windproof but they sure function like it.

STIFF AND BULKY

I really, really wanted to love these. I had even ordered 2 pairs: one for me and one as a gift to Nana. Unfortunately, they are very stiff and have no give at all. And, yes, the wool is scratchy. This glomitt would be perfect if it was a bit softer and stretchier. It does have the thumb hole which is what attracted me. The color online is exactly the color in person. I purchased Mediums and the glomitt feels more like it's a "one size fits all" fit. Fox River would do well to change the ugly black velcro to one that matches the color of the glomitt or change it altogether to a magnet or button. I'll check back next year to see if they've been improved; but, for now, they're getting returned.

Not What I Need

I love these gloves, but for a couple things that make them so troublesome. For one, the velcro keeps on snagging on everything, including me! And the thumb flap never seems to stay back on its own, causeing infinate problems for me. Also, the way that the fingers are sewn together causes pain in the webbing if you move your fingers a certain way. All in all, they're very warm but uncomfortible.

Forever and for everything

I've had a pair of these for over 10 years. I use them for everything but mostly running, camping and fishing in rivers. They are perfect to get wet and stay warm. They've also taken a beating around the campsite and have gotten filthy in and around rivers. They wash well and definitely keep you warm without getting stinky or itchy in day after day wet conditions. I'll definitely buy another pair if these ever wear out.

Nice concept but has issues

Purchased these on sale and they are true to size. As with most wool products they stink but that's OK. The plusses are the ease to go from mitten to fingerless glove and back. Love the thumb hole so I can actually grab something from my pack without removing them. And they are toasty, but not in high winds. However, the Velcro does catch on everything. And this is just a fashion item, why is the Velcro black when the item is tan/cream? Looks bad. Don't they know Velcro comes in colors? My other complaint is the seams between the fingers on both gloves almost immediately all opened up! The stitching that separates the fingers looks to be temporary, not permanent; very thin thread and not sewn completely nor tied off at the ends so the threads just unraveled. These will be returned unfortunately.

Excellent pair of mid-range mittens

Excellent pair of mid-range mittens. My hands get cold easily but I need exposed fingers for working my cameras and such. With these I can do things without taking the entire mitten off, especially handy when walking with trekking poles. The webbed fingers haven't caused me any inconvenience. They are not windproof, which limits their range. A windbreak layer for the flip-over cover would be wonderful.
