I am a long-time Keen consumer so when I needed a new pair of everyday shoes, the Versacore Speed was an obvious choice. The insoles, however, are wafer thin, provide no support, and were packed out within 15 miles of walking. After plunking down more money for good insoles, they are now perfect. Keen, you can do better for a shoe at this price point.
Comfortable shoe. Fit is small so I got a larger size. Toe box is large and comfortable. Lacks stability so I added an insert.
I purchased these to replace my aging INXS Speed shoes, the non-waterproof version. They're similar in design, so I didn't expect much of a difference. Where the INXS were instantly comfortable and cushy out of the box, these were stiff with little to no cushioning on the soles, or under the arches. The sides of the shoes were stiff and somewhat uncomfortable. I've only worn them once so far and am leaning towards returning them. I'm going to give them a couple more chances before I make up my mind. On the plus side they have the standard, wide toe box that I love so much and expect from Keen shoes. Also, Keen has changed the laces. The good: They're now flat with an almost sticky touch to them. The old laces on previous models I've had were sort of slick and were constantly coming untied. Super annoying when you're wearing gators on the trail...The bad: They're about 2 inches too short. There's enough lace to tie them, but just barely. A a few more inches would have been nice. All in all, so far, a disappointment.
Love these shoes. They are supportive, cushy, and work with my bunion. So sorry they are being discontinued. I am buying up a few pairs for the future.
