Pale shadow of previous Kinvaras

While Saucony (thankfully) dropped the stack height on this iteration of the shoe, the continued use of their EVRRUN still makes for a poor daily trainer that emphasizes lightness and flexibility. The foam is so is still so stiff that during transition and push-off it feels like I'm fighting the foam for full range of motion in the foot, preventing a natural transition. Coupled with a toebox that feels narrow like the Kinvara 15s, this version of the shoe is a hard pass. It's too bad, this line was the daily trainer of choice from Saucony for a lot of people, but now it's just a muddled, over-foamed mess that fails to deliver on it's basic premise: light, low, and flexible.

A true daily runner

Light, comfortable, responsive daily cruiser. Almost like having the 12/13 back.

Please never discontinue this shoe!

I love these shoes. As someone who doesn't gel with the soft, high stack shoes that are popular right now, this shoe is one of the only options left on the market, and after not liking the previous generation I'm happy to report these are awesome. They feel stable, are comfortable, look good, have decent traction, and fit well. I have a high arch and average width foot, I do wear the men's version as a woman and it seems to fit me better. Can't report on durability as I've only done 3 runs in them so far but I highly recommend this shoe to anyone who likes a more traditional feeling shoe or something light and fast for speedwork. I plan on running a half marathon in these. Thank you Saucony!

Back to Basics

Loyal Kinvara fan… up until the 14 and 15’s. Ended up switching to another brand. Happy to report the 16s have gone back to what I loved about the earlier models. It’s so challenging to find a low stack light runner these days. I do find the soles are worn out after 300km however. The 14 and 15s caused strange pains in my ankles and feet… thankfully all is well in the 16s. Also my pace is considerably faster than when I wear my Hokas. Super comfy and light. About to purchase 2 more pairs.

So far, a great shoe

Got these to try out for my daily runners. I’ve run 3 times in them now, total of about 15 km and I’m very satisfied. Fit is good, true to size, for a shoe this light, support and padding, and sole seems more durable than my Hokas. So far, so good. Winter is rolling in now so…

pleasantly surprised

Great update, the midsole is more responsive and a bit softer. The stack is just enough to keep the ride from being harsh. I wish the toe box was a bit wider, but it's better than the 15. The 16 is even more flexible with a deep flex groove up front. I did not like the 15 but the 16 is better in every way. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Content but miss the old design

I’ve been a Kinvara user for about eight years, starting with the 8, then 10, 12 and 13. Didn’t care for the look or design of the 14 or 15 so I was happy to see a return to a similar design from before. With the last of my three pairs of 13s wearing, I reluctantly bought the 16s. What I like most about the Kinvara line is how light they are. Saucony, please don’t change that! The fit is similar to the 13 but I find the newest version a little stiffer. Not really a fan of the wide open mesh but it does help with breathability. I wish there was a better colour selection, something simple or neutral. The current colour options are garish! A simple navy, or grey with an accent colour would be nice. I bought the whites because it was the pair I disliked the least. White, we all know, doesn’t stay that way for long so I’m hoping for a second version with some different colours. Overall, I’ll continue to stick with the Kinvara line until I’m given a reason to try something else.

Great Shoe, Short Lifespan

I really like the fit and feel of the Kinvaras, they’re lightweight and responsive. That said, the outsole durability seems to have declined over the last few iterations. I’m seeing significant tread wear before 100 miles, which is disappointing given how well they perform otherwise.

Nothing like the Kinvaras of old

I used to love the Kinvaras from years ago, as they were a joy to move in. However, this version is decidedly not a joy to move in. Positive: low heel to toe drop Negative: the wide sole flare is gone

Disappointed kinvara 13 fan

I hoped this kinvara 16 would be more like the 13, but I was disappointed. It is still too much shoe. This planned obsolescence is an unnecessary marketing tactic.
