This filter doesn't include the cap! I've been scrambling looking online to find the cap. REI doesn't carry it.
upgrade no good
Please go back to the older version. It was lighter weight, more transparent. It was a great product. I’m a long distance hiker, and it just started to appear on the shelves of some of the Hostel’s on the AC. New version too heavy I went online today to see if I could buy some of the old replacement filters and I don’t see them anymore. I have one clean one left. After that, I’m probably gonna have to switch to something else just don’t know what. Maybe you sawyer mini  It was a great product. I’m a long distance hiker and it just started to appear on the shelves of some of the hostels on the 18th. New version too heavy
Warning: cap not included & impossible to buy!!
I give this zero stars. I bought this BeFree replacement filter and was disappointed to find it doesn't come with the mouthpiece/flip-cap. It was a different version of the filter that came with my BeFree 1 liter bottle (clear). I haven't found a store that sells this special piece WHICH IS NEEDED TO USE THE FILTER so this filter is useless. Unlike the previous version you could substitute in a cap from smart water bottle should you need a fresh mouthpiece/flip-cap. I love my BeFree but I can't find the original design filter/flip cap design. It's wasteful that I can't continue using the bottle I loved.
If it's not broke, please do not try to fix it
I have been happily using the BeFree system for four years. This new replacement filter does not include a cap and the old cap is not compatible with this new system. Given the changes to the cap, I'm not sure this will work with my gravity system (currently uses old befree filter). I will purchase a different filter system until they include a cap. This feels like a cheap way to make me buy a new system from their company. I will not approve or condone of this change by buying another filter.
No cap, totally changed design
No flip top cap anymore, just a gaping hole on the top. Plus the new water holders have blue all around it instead of see-through so you can’t see if the water you pulled is clean. Old flip top cap doesnt even screw onto this new one.
No cap
No cap??? I purchased a befree one liter bottle with the filter last summer. Needed a replacement filter. This will screw into the bottle-but there is no cap. The cap from the original bottle isn’t compatible.
Vote with your wallet; switch to the Hydrapak
Katadyn made a mess of this by cancelling the original design for a more complicated and expensive design that is UNAVAILABLE with all of its operating parts unless you also purchase a new squeeze bag / bladder. I am just switching to the Hydrapak system. It's filters are virtually identcial and will fit BeFree filters. Sure, the hydrapak filters aren't what we prefer, but I'm not sending more money to Katadyn. Let's all vote with our wallets and use the Hydrapak products to send a message.

What’s the point? The original worked well. Is this planned obsolescence? When I asked, I was told I could certainly buy a new bottle and filter if new filter didn’t fit the original. And then send the original to the landfill: of course with additional privilege of paying for a new bottle and filter? No thank you.
No cap on filter
No cap on filter. Packaging claimed it's "compatible" with older design but that's misleading.Will return asap and order older design filter from Amazon since REI no longer carries. Older design worked great.
What a Product Misfire
This filter replacement is a disaster. As previos reviewers have noted - No Cap, and cant re-se the cap from the older style filter. Unbelievable Katadyn would sell such a stupid product. It might srill be usable to filter water into another bottle, but not suitable for drinking out of and can't carry water without it sloshing out. Going back to REI.
