Comments about REI Classic Ragg Socks:
Given that all feet are not created equal, I am sorely disappointed in the durability of these socks.I bought three pairs about a month ago and wear them daily, with either sandals or deck shoes. I like the classic raggs for their comfort and general properties associated with wool garments. I was dismayed to find a hole in the heel of one sock but figured that I would just revive the old tradition of sock darning. When shotly thereafter a hole appeared in one from the second pair I realized that I had purchased an inferior product. It appears that the weave at the critical point in the heel is far too loose. At[$] bucks a pop, I expect more from a pair of socks. I would think twice before buying this product.

Comments about REI Classic Ragg Socks:
I purchased 5 pr. Classic Ragg Wool Socks at the end of last season but didn't start to wear them until this winter. I LOVE these socks. I live in a log cabin in the mountains, keep the temp low inside during the winter and these keep my feet warm. After years of buying ragg wool socks that have worn out quickly, become stiff and bunched up in my hiking boots, I finally found some that retain their softness, cushion, warmth, wicking ability and shape after many washings.

Comments about REI Classic Ragg Socks:
Dollar-for-dollar, these are the best wools socks out there. I've been through Wigwam, SmartWool, and other REI makes and I am only going to use these from here on out.
They are warm (but regulate temperature well), comfortable, and--unlike the others--they don't wear out right away.
Throw in the affordable price and they have no competition.
The only downside is I wish they had more color options...

I wear these socks with liners when backpacking, or without liners when I just want warm feet. I haven't had any problems with them itching, but my feet are pretty tough. They also seem to last forever.

Comments about REI Classic Ragg Socks:
I bought one pair of these socks just to see how they compared to thick cotton in my boots. Well, about a week later I bought 6 more & threw away all my other socks. They're comfy, sturdy, keep the stink down, warm & regulates heat extremely well. The only downside is that since they're wool, they absorb a lot of moisture, but hey, that should be expected. Oh, also, love the price! Since I bought six I got 10% off, another 10% back for my membership & another 5% back with my REI Visa; hard to beat [$]/pair.

Comments about REI Classic Ragg Socks:
I bought a pair of these about 4 years ago, but because they were a bit worn, I couldn't remember where I had purchased them. They were my go to socks for any hike or backpack of significance. Much better than the all wool socks and more cushiony than my merino wool socks. Finally while at REI last year I looked at socks and it was there. I bought 3 more pairs. Not only are these babies more comfortable than the wool or merino, they dry much quicker. When I was on the AT for a week, I had taken a wool pair, a merino wool pair and my one pair of these. I ended up wearing these 4 of 6 days. When I rinsed them and the wool ones off in a creek, these dried much faster. Never have an itch problem like one reviewer because I always use liners. This is the only sock an avid hiker/backpacker will ever need.

Comments about REI Classic Ragg Socks:
I know this sounds wierd but I have used these socks for my morning walks all week and then used them on a day hike on the weekend without washing them. This was just a test to see if I would get any Athletes foot problems from wearing them so long without washing. no problems!

Comments about REI Classic Ragg Socks:
Felt comfortable enough, and seem like they would hold up well in cooler temps, but here in Texas they did not wick away moisture as efficiently as many of the other socks i.e. Wigwam Cool-Lite Hiker Pro Socks.
