Good for camping or power outage at home.
The LEDs give a soft dispersed light focused to the top. It can be set on a table to reflect light off of a ceiling or hung pointing down without the sides blinding you with bright light. Solar charging works best if the top strap is pulled back away from the cells to prevent shadowing that reduces efficiently. Works best if using USB to fully charge and solar to keep topped off.
MPOWERD solar inflatable light
Lasts a surprisingly long time on a full charge, although the solar charging is painfully slow.
Good, nice, but overpriced
The 2 Amp hour capacity is both good and bad, as it will run the light for several hours (length depends on the light-level setting you use), but using it to recharge your phone will drain it very quickly. The amount of light is good, and a comfortable not-too-blue and not-too-yellow white. The construction seems pretty good, like a heavy-duty inflatable. I've only recharged it from the USB C port so far and not tested how long solar charging would take, but I suspect it would take many hours of sun if drained, but should be useful for adding some hours per day, or topping off the charge if lightly used. It packs fairly small when deflated, but it still isn't a tiny backpacking light. It's fine for boat or car camping. All-in-all, I like it. But, it was originally priced too high and I wouldn't have bought it at full price. I only bought it because it is on discontinued clearance AND I was able to use my membership discount coupon at REI, and even with that it seems a bit overpriced. I hope it lasts long enough to feel worth it.
Nice rechargeable light w/ solar charging ability
I was looking for a rechargeable light, preferably with solar charging ability, to keep handy for occasions when my power goes out. This light seemed to fit the bill and was on sale (bonus!). It was delivered just days before my neighborhood lost power for 3 hours in the midst of a thunderstorm. Pros: The light worked well, though I kept it on the lowest setting to preserve power so it wasn’t really bright enough to really do much by, like reading. It was nice having a light I could carry around instead of candles or flashlights. Cons: It was a little hard getting it to inflate, and once it was inflated, I haven’t been able to get the blow-up nozzle to sink back into the cover, so the light won’t stand upright. Possibly that would be easier if I let some of the air out.
Good backpacking lantern.
Great backpacking/camping lantern. I only use this to provide light and to recharge my Apple Watch. I remain a little skeptical still of the solar charging and the battery power despite advertising. As a light however, it's great. It provides more than sufficient lumens, is lightweight, and has a clever design.
Awesome lantern!
This lantern has improved our backpacking trips immensely. Prior to this with only headlamps we just headed to bed when it got dark. Now we can play games in the tent! And everyone in the tent can see without getting blinded by someone else’s headlamp. So glad I got this.
Better than other Luci
Lasts a long time and sturdier than previous lanterns from the same brand.
doesn’t last
I bought this a little over a year ago. I used this on 2 backpacking trips. Before this last trip I charged it all the way at home, wouldn’t turn on…. Tried to return it to REI but I’ve had it more than a year so no money back. Brough it home and played with it and somehow at home got it to work again so I took it on my next trip. On trip it again would not turn on at all. Pretty much a waste of money. Not happy.
great light, but not durable.
I’ve used this lantern on a handful of camping trips and am overall pleased with its lighting, it is a nice warm light that gives a cozy feel at night. It lasts multiple hours on the highest setting too. The main issues I had with this lantern is the phone charging aspect is not really a usable function, it drains the lanterns battery really quickly. The material seems durable but slowly small holes come about, also some raccoons scratched mine up and tore right through the material. Overall I like the light it gives yet i think the phone charging is useless, i haven’t really tried the solar charging part of it either but I’d guess it’d take a while to fully charge with the sun. I do wish it was more durable because i’m quite sad that they got ruined so quickly.
Buyer beware
Solar recharging doesn't work, very weak light, and can be found for half the price on other retailers.
