I have worn Keen hiking shoes for 8 years. This pair has begun to separate where the material is glued to the sole after 10 days of walking the Camino. The soles of the heal is wearing down as well. Unfortunately I will have to purchase new shoes when I reach a city. Keen quality has declined over the past few years. If I wasn't in Spain I'd send them back for a refund but I cant carry them in my pack for another month. This model is trash!
I keep buying the Women's Circadian Vent because I walk my dogs distances every day and they are so darn comfortable. The shoelaces hold tight and last forever. The toe box is comfy and large and accommodates thick wool socks. I've had 7-8 pairs of these shoes over the past 5 years -why so many? the heels wear down in about 6 months- i walk 1-3 miles/ day mostly in the woods. It's a somewhat shocking failure. Still, I keep buying the dang shoes...
The only good thing about this shoe is that it's light--but that's it. It's flimsy, very little support, no arch support, and bad traction, which is terrible for a hiking shoe. Keen should be embarrassed to make this shoe and REI should not sell it.
My *_old_* beat to heck Keens are a Targhee (I think) vent and waterproof from back in the day. They finally needed to retire. In comparison, I found the Circadia to be larger. Normally, I wear an 8.5 in most shoes (Brooks, Asics, street shoes, etc) but starting out, I found I wanted a 9 in Keens. The Circadia feels like a 9.5 even compared to the waterproof Targhee II and vented Voyager I acquired about the same time. I can make the Circadia work with a thick pair of hiking socks to absorb both, what feels like, an additional length and volume of the shoe. Unlike a previous reviewer, I've not found the bottoms to be slippery when wet, but use them mostly on asphalt and dirt surfaces which are not smooth.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought these for some light hiking and knew I would not be able to test before. From the moment I put them on they were light and supportive in all the right places. We only hiked 5 miles the first day but they were perfect
My first pair of Keens! Plenty of room in the toes which has been amazing for a gal with wide feet. Lightweight and breathable. Worn on two hikes so far and has been a game changer for both function & comfortability.
These shoes/boots are so comfortable from opening the box to my feet- just love them! Perfect fit with enough toe room! Wear for walking dogs as well! Get them if undecided!! You won’t be sorry- love Keen
Got the shoe for daughter to hike in, within two weeks the sole started coming off
I ordered the Circadia vent Women 9 toasted coconut/north atlantic. The picture online looked very attractive. The actual shoe is more of a dun-brown, rather than a golden/toasted brown, and the second layer of protective coating up from the bottom is not as dark in reality. I have duck feet: extremely wide across the base of the toes and regular size at the heel, so I appreciate the width on these shoes: they fit me, a wide foot, very well. I like that it's lace up as I need that with my average/regular heel. I feel very stable and secure on the ground and even at the dog park, which is an old land-fill and uneven. I like this stability even more than my orthotic sandals and shoes from Alegria Shoe. The arch support is not as much as in other pairs of Keen's shoes and boots I have owned. I wish Keen would provide a comparison between their shoes, as I also bought a Women 9Jasper at the same time as I bought this Circadia, and the Jasper was too narrow and too short. I would be a nice feature if Keen's website had "if this shoe fit you well, then try out styles -- and then list similar styles with similar widths. I know my weird duck feet are the issue, but such a feature would help me. I buy a lot of shoes. Also a tag for arch support - like true to size/width, would be helpful.
I haven’t always loved keens, but this hiking boot is great. It has a nice stable footbed and durable/warm yet flexible exterior. The shoe is also deep enough to accommodate orthotics, which is not always the case. The mostly leather outer holds up and keeps feet warm even in 40 degree, rainy temps. I fully expect the venting to be cooling enough for me to also wear these in the warmer months in the SW. These are a reasonably light weight and durable hiker. If I lived in a colder, wetter climate I would likely wear these much of the time!
