hiking mode acts weird
Aleks
I got this watch right before going to the Grand Canyon. The plan was to hike Rim to Rim, and I wanted to get the accurate mileage, steps, etc as when I did this trail in the past, my apple watch died half way the trail. I put my new fenix on a hiking mode, but it would constantly pause itself. It was so frustrating to resume it all the time; I had to turn the activity mode off... Also, I downloaded the map of the trail (course), and could not figure out how to apply the course to the hiking mode. It would work as doing the course only or as a hiking activity, but not together. I haven't decided if I want to keep the watch yet.

Nice upgrade from Fenix 5s

I upgraded my fenix 5s after nearly six years. I still love my old model, but I do enjoy the features of the new 7s. I've not been very successful at utilizing the solar glass, but maybe once the summer sun arrives Ill have more luck. I've received complements on the looks of the watch, and my only real complaint is the sensor is slightly raised rather than flush like my previous model. The raised sensor does leave an impression on my wrist, but otherwise it is not noticeably uncomfortable. Overall happy with my purchase.

Great features - but has some kinks

I purchased this a few weeks ago. As with any new product from Garmin, it has its ups and downs. I love the functionality - all except one thing. Wifi connection - it doesn't stay connected long enough to download large apps (Spotify) from Garmin connect I cannot get spotify to download to the watch. I don't know if Garmin connect or the wifi on the watch needs an upgrade. My watch connects to the 2.4ghz wifi both at home and on another network, but Garmin Connect does not recognize the watch connecting to wifi. Everytime I go to load Spotify on the watch it says I am not connected to wifi in Garmin Connect. I'm a tech savy person and have worked thru all the upper level garmin support documents and with support a couple of times now. Of course, no one else is reporting this problem. I had an early Garmin 645 music and never could get the the music to work with that either. I've tried the ski app and some of the women's features and like that. The ski app is very cool as long as it doen't turn off by inadvertant button pushes with gloves, but that is probably more user error than device error. I

excellent watch for roadrunners

I purchased this watch for my girlfriend for Christmas she had 2 fit bit watches that was constantly dying. Then she has an apple 7 watch that dies in less than 2 days the Garmin Fenix 7s is an excellent watch for roadrunners it last for more than 7 days of use but it is even higher 11 days or more. I own the Garmin vioactive 4 it wasn't as expensive as her Garmin watch but when you are dating the bionic woman you have to get the most durable watch to survive someone who accustomed to run cross country in high school. she does 5 k with her sister and walks with me I don't regret the purchase she love her watch.

I love all the features that the watch offers. It is just so uncomfortable. I have been trying to stay patient and telling myself I would get used to it, but the watch is sharp and heavy. It is made to be strong and resistant which is great, but it makes me want to take it off all the time. Spending such a big chunk of money on a watch makes me think I should use it for all of its features (sleep, HR tracking, etc.). The watch also bounces around a lot while running if I don’t tighten it hard. Considering changing to a forerunner 955 to ensure I truly take advantage of my purchase the long run.

Good!

It looks great in your wrist, real time stamina while running is great; I wish it could be added to the tennis app and other activities. It works great with Spotify. Training readiness and body battery data is comparable to the Athlytic app in Apple Watch but the Athlytic app widget looks better in IPhone. AppleWatch is more comfortable to sleep with but endurable with Fenix 7s. The big negative for me is needing a third party app to add a barcode for my Gym pass. After tennis and running I go to the gym for active recovery and have to take my AppleWatch out to use the AppleWatch wallet. The barcode third party apps don’t seem secured.

Better watch for the active lifstyle.

I dumped the Apple watch because I saw that the data collected was more comprehensive, and the guidance provided by the Garmin software was intuitive and helpful. I'm okay with fewer smartwatch features and apps to adjust thermostats or open garage doors. The Fenix does the smartwatch basics well, including Garmin Pay. I now feel less distracted by apps features and more focused on my health, which I wanted. My only disappointment was that the lineup choices needed to be clearer. I appreciate the many models available, but I was disappointed that the EKG feature would be with the Pro model when released. I'm very happy with the watch and all it tracks and helps me with.

Excellent

I bought the 7s solar about 3-4 weeks ago. I like the touch screen and it works perfectly. I have only had to charge it once since buying it. Changing the watch face is easy. Finding how to link to my chest heart rate monitor was a little difficult but once I found it the they linked right off the bat. I previously owned an Instinct which I loved and this is definitely an upgrade. The real only issue I have is the length of the wrist band. I wish there was one just a little longer. The other watches in this series looked too big on my wrist. I plan on getting the diver wrist band but I think it will probably be going from one end of the spectrum to the other.

Great SmartWatch- Challenging UI & Durability

I switched from Apple to Garmin due to battery life- the Apple watch wouldn't last on certain hikes. The fenix has fantastic battery life- ~8 days without workouts and 2-3 days with serious workouts. The UI takes getting used to- not as intuitive & I've needed to watch youtube videos to showcase features. I still feel that I don't use this watch to it's full ability. Garmin Connect's app leaves a lot to be desired. 6 months in, I do have a lot of scratches & wear on the watch; probably not meant for rock climbing... Overall, I like this watch, I don't love this watch, but appreciate the new ability it gives me.

I accidently ordered the 7s, and given the chance I would get the standard 7 or 7x. The touch screen is an amazing and welcome change, it functions very well. There is a steep learning curve to the user interface of these watches. However, there is a wealth of content on youtube to get the most out of this wearable. There are more features on here than 70% of consumers will use, but there is a niche for everyone in this watch. I hope to be wearing a fenix for a long time to come. Once you get one, you wont want to go back to anything else. I would absolutely get the Solar addition as well. Makes a noticeable difference in battery life, especially when using GPS during an activity, .
