The best in the market

We upgraded our power source from a different company. The features of the e base charge was top notch. To start, the wireless phone charging port is perfect for us to just throw our phone on there whenever we need to. Our base charge 1500 keeps our dometic cooler plenty cool for days at a time along with everything else we need to charge. We love the inward handle design that prevent taking up additional space when it comes to packing our gears in the car. From design to functionality, we’re super happy with our base charge and can’t wait to take it out with us on all our travels.

Takes FOREVER to charge..!!

This product is substantially over priced for its feature set. It uses less optimal NMC lithium batteries so it has a considerably shorter life span when compared to units that use LiFePO4 batteries. It takes FOREVER to charge, seriously. The manufacturer does not include accessory cables like one with MC4 connections for solar charging (must be purchased separately for more $$$). Look for products that use LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries. LiFePO4 batteries are less expensive to manufacture, less damaging to the environment, they charge considerably faster, and their life cycle is at least 6 times that of NMC lithium batteries. Bluetti makes a comparable unit (AC180P) for $1,000 that includes accessory cables (like one with MC4 connections for solar charging) and it comes with a 5-year warranty..! The BioLite BaseCharge 1500 only has a 2-year warranty =(

Saved us from a derecho!

We bought this during the pandemic for camping along with solar pannels. Our town was hit by a serious derecho a month ago and we lost power for a week. The Base Charge 1500 saved us for the first few days. I was able to make coffee--for my entire neighbor hood--for the first 3 days. I made coffee (grinder and espresso machine) and toast for a week without having to recharge. We eventually got a generator for our freezer and fridge as the power outage went on for a week, but the Biolite was absolutely the best. I was more than impressed and. as a coffee afficianado, it saved my life. I highly recommend this.

Way overpriced, does not perform to spec

I have a dozen different "power stations / solar generators". This was by far the worst one I've come across. First, it's way overpriced. You can get a similar unit from other well-known brands for half the cost (which perform better). The charging speed (off of AC/household power) is ridiculously slow - 120w, which basically takes more than overnight to recharge. The power output worked fine for me for 15 mins, then went from 55% to 0% instantly, with no change in the load. Look at Bluetti, EcoFlow, Jackery, Anker, or any of the bigger brands for a superior product at a much lower price.

Awesome!!

We have this unit in a camper we built out, and it's perfect. It charged our 12V fan, phones, speakers, and camper lights for 5 days in the desert. Between destinations, we were able to easily recharge the unit off the carport, and it kept everything charged for 4 more days. The digital display makes it super easy to see the remaining battery life, which is nice when planning and allocating power during extended times at camp. It's easy to carry with the side handles, which is nice when we're taking it on and off the storage shelf. It's been durable and reliable over the past year.

If only it charged faster..

The pricing is fair in the market for a name brand but the outputs/inputs are what set these units apart from the pack, not in a good way. The A/C charging is way too slow, 13hours when other brands can do the same in an hour or two, with a/c passthrough. Solar input is 10-30v but only 400w, too low for its price range. A/C inverter is average output, 3 outlets with ground pin is nice. These units use NMC batteries, do your own research, YMMV. While the unit is clean looking it has no way to secure it down if mounted in a vehicle, whats up with that? Biolite has some great products but this one and its smaller sibling are surprisingly very average. 5/5 for it working as it should but a 3/5 overall because of its competition. I tried to give this a fair chance but the lack of handle/tiedown made me return it.

Hi there! Thanks so much for the honest and thorough review! We’ll be sharing this feedback directly with the product and engineering team! When designing this model, the team prioritized portability, convenience, and solar compatibility for the end user. This resulted in a unit that is several pounds lighter than the competition, a wireless charging deck to meet one of the most common device needs (phones/tablets), and the fastest charging times via solar (3.5-4 hours). That said, your critiques are well-taken here and we're grateful you took the time to share this feedback! (Pro Tip - you can also charge in via AC and USB-C PD simultaneously, cutting down on charging times from the wall.) We'd love to connect you with a member of the product team to hear more about your experience and specific applications. We're always looking for ways to deliver designs that realistically apply to our customers' lives! Please feel free to reach out to us at support@bioliteenergy.com!

Very useful: almost perfect

This is a really well thought out battery and has some impressive power. I haven’t been able to test charging it with solar panels due to shipping delays, but I’m very interested to see how it works. The only design flaws are that the induction charger only can charge one phone at a time. Further, the induction charger does not work with iPhone 14 Pro Max because the curve of the top of the unit does not allow full contact with the 14’s larger size.

Easy to use and functional!

This unit has been a staple for camping trips and weekend projects. It's lightweight, so it's easy for me to carry around and store in a camper. When choosing a power station, we wanted one that would be easy to use, and the digital display and port system on this is seamless out of the box. We've taken it off-grid multiple times in the past year, and it's performed well every time. Highly recommend!

So good

Bought this during the preorder, perfect for using during all day drone flying sessions. It can handle charging several batteries simultaneously thanks to the many different ports, display is clear and easy to read, even when it's bright outside. Waiting to buy some solar panels to recharge the station itself, but until then, it's working like a dream :)

In my book, it's a must have!

Within the first month of having the BaseCharge we lost power. We plugged the blender, coffee grinder, and coffee maker into the BaseCharge and we went on with our morning. I knew I could trust BioLite to make a good piece of equipment. I'm planning to take this in the field when I need power in my bee yards.
